DC2 due in 2 weeks and not 100% on any names.
Surname begins with D and is 2 syllables, would really like May as a middle name in memory of my mum.
Currently considering Tabitha (Tabby) but unsure if that sounds a bit ‘posh’ or Harriet (Hattie).
Any similar suggestions please?

If you like Hattie what about Hettie as a nickname for either Henrietta or Hester?

tillytoodles1 · 28/06/2021 22:15

I love Chloe and Sophie.

margarita100 · 28/06/2021 22:25

Tabitha's lovely, it is a bit posh but I don't think there's anything wrong with having a posh name
Maeve could be a potential?

Divebar2021 · 28/06/2021 22:28

What does it matter if it’s “posh”? What difference does it make?

I wouldn't have associated Tabitha with posh at all! I actually think of the witch of the same name from bewitched (1970's, US comedy).

Tabitha isn't posh in the least Confused It's great on a cat, but horrid (and weird) on a human.

Harriet/Hattie is really nice.

Tabitha and Harriet are lovely. (I don't see Tabitha as posh).
I would go with one of those - they exactly meet your criteria.
So do:
Miranda
Constance
Cecily
Cecilia
Eleanor (though a bit more popular?)
Rowena
Susannah
Jemima
Henrietta

Penelope and Margot would have met the criteria a few years ago but are zooming up the popularity charts.

BellaVida · 29/06/2021 09:17

Prefer Harriet to Tabitha, but neither seem too ‘posh’ to me.

Arabella (Bella)

Cassandra (Cassie)

Hermione
Rosalind
Constance (Connie)
Virginia (Ginny)

Tabitha is my favourite girls name ever. I had boys but if I’d had a DD she would 100% have been Tabitha.

PostmanPatandhiscat · 29/06/2021 10:15

I have a teenage Georgia and you hardly hear anyone else called it . She’s now just called George .

I like Tabitha. I don't see it as a posh name at all. I also like Harriet with the nickname Hattie, I think that's very cute.

Other ideas -
Constance (Connie)
Josephine (Josie)
Emmeline
Lydia
Martha
Anastasia
Gabriella
Bethany
Esther
Frances
