Middle names for Penelope ?

Would love to get some middle name suggestions for our incoming 3rd child who is due next week! We have two boys already and this will be our first daughter, so feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the choices.

We are loving the first name Penelope, possibly shortened to either Pip, Pippi or Penny and like the middle name Rose, perhaps making up the name Pippi Rose ...

My boys both have 2 middle names each so thinking I should continue this trend ?! Any suggestions for a second middle name that goes well with Penelope Rose ?? Or just any other middle name suggestions in general that might go nicely? Our surname begins with 'Fe'.

Thanks ! I am spending far too much time procrastinating on this one ... what do people think about Penelope??

Lovely name, with dofferent nn options, my favourite kind! I lean towards Nell as a nn.

I would choose a single syllable middle name with such a long first name.

Penelope Anne
Penelope Jane
Penelope Mae

I like Penelope. It's got very popular recently, but it's a nice name and Penny is a sweet nickname. Rose is such a common middle name that (especially paired with a popular name like Penelope) there could be more than one Penelope Rose at her school, if that's the kind of thing that bothers you.

Personally I think most names flow better with Rose as the third name, like Penelope Vita Rose. Just going though several names in my head it almost always sounds better to that way around. But name flow is quite personal and if you like Rose as the first middle name here are some names that think sounds good:
Alexandra
Beatrice
Cecilia
Elizabeth
Frances
Odette
Seraphina

Grace

I don't like it, sorry. That's just personal opinion though. The world wouldn't go round if we all liked the same things, would it.

Penelope Iris
Penelope Alice
Penelope Elise
Penelope Ray
Penelope Ava
Penelope Jasmine
Penelope Lynn
Penelope Grace

I really like Penelope Jane, very classy (plus PJ could be a cute nickname!)

Penelope is a lovely name!

What about Penelope Mia

I think a one syllable name would work best

Penelope Joy
Penelope Hope
Penelope Grace
Penelope Lark
Penelope Maeve
Penelope Nell
Penelope Rae

Was on my list years ago, I had hoped it would become Polly as a nn. Mn would have been Fflur but until we decided on that, mn would have been Jean.

Agree with pp that the cadence is better with a two-syllable second name, and then save Rose for a third name (assuming you want to go ahead with three names for parity with her brothers, Penelope Rose is lovely as it is).

So for example:
Penelope Charlotte Rose
Penelope Zara Rose
Penelope Phoebe Rose
Penelope Sophie Rose
Etc

Thank you all so much for your comments and suggestions !

I do agree that if we go for 2 middle names then it would be best for Rose to be the 2nd in terms of the full name flowing nicely. Some ideas I have been writing out this evening...

Penelope Edie Rose

Penelope Mia Rose
Penelope Rumi Rose
Penelope Marla Rose
Penelope Nova Rose
Penelope Luna Rosa

Thoughts?!

And don't worry at all those who didn't love Penelope, I have a Theodore (Ted) and a Winston (Win) so am quite into slightly unusual names and know are not everyones cup of tea! I do think Ted, Win and Pip go quite sweetly together as a three??

Thanks again, really nice to get some feedback as haven't been sharing with friends and family this time!

I like your unusual second names.

I personally would avoid ones that echo the sounds of Rose (e.g. the R in Rumi, or the O in Nova) as they make it sound a bit Children's-Nursery-Rhyme-Character, but that might be the vibe your going for - I know a child called Daisy-Mae which firmly comes into this category for me but obviously her parents loved.

CakesOfVersailles · 25/06/2021 12:11

Was Penelope Luna Rosa a typo for Rose or would you use Rosa?

I personally don't like Edie, Rumi, Mia or Nova in that combination. Just due to the sounds combined with Penelope e.g. the 'e' at the end of penelope with the 'i' of Mia.

I do like Luna and Marla.

Would you consider:

Penelope Catherine Rose
Penelope Charlotte Rose
Penelope Estella Rose
Penelope Sarah Rose

Or just Penelope Rose. Alternatively middle names are a nice way to honour family if you want to use your own name or a loved grandmother etc as a middle name.

P.S. love your boys' names.
