What do you think of the name Valma? It means twinflower in Finnish

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
toastofthetown · 20/06/2021 10:38

I like it, but I think it would be mistaken for Velma a lot in the UK.

17caterpillars1mouse · 20/06/2021 10:39

I've not come across Valma before, I'm not sure it reminds me a bit of a medication, not sure why.

SionnachRua · 20/06/2021 13:15

Reminds me of Velma from Scooby Doo.

TheSandgroper · 20/06/2021 13:23

I have a Valma from school. I don’t know where her parents found it but it worked well with the surname.

She was (still is) Valma, never Val.

BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 21/06/2021 05:30

Do you have Finnish connections, OP?

peaceinourtime · 21/06/2021 05:42

Very nice

Lockdownbear · 21/06/2021 06:17

It sounds medical to me, sorry.

LivingLaVidaCovid · 21/06/2021 06:39

I would assume it was velma with a typo - sorry!

ValerieMorghulis · 21/06/2021 06:45

I immediately thought of a drug too! It’s an OK name but Val is not great

cookiecreampie · 21/06/2021 07:15

The only one I've heard of was a woman in her 60s I used to work with years ago. I'm not keen.

Hippohappiness · 21/06/2021 07:40

Reminds me of Velma from Chicago... not that keen, sorry.

KirstenBlest · 22/06/2021 16:05

How do you say i in Finnish?

It reminds me of the welsh name Falmai (VAL-my, my as in 'my eye')

KirstenBlest · 22/06/2021 16:11

it not i.

I like it

sparkleshines · 22/06/2021 17:43

I quite like it, but I think I like Valerie/ Valeria more.
