Emilia or Mari

Baby is imminent and we can't decide on a name. We both quite like Emilia or Mari (Welsh name pn marry). I'm not bothered about popularity of names and how common they are or spellings etc just want to go with what we think is the nicest / prettiest. All along I have really loved Elodie but can't get dh on board with that so Emilia nn Emmy or Mari which do you like best?

Both nice, but Mari is more striking and memorable.

Haven’t seen Mari before and they’ll always need to explain how to pronounce but I like it!

Mari, I'm biased as I know a lovely Mari it sounds warm and friendly to me.

I know an Elodie too, suits her.

At this point, wait until baby is here and choose then.

She might just look like one more than the other

I love Mari (welsh).

Only thing I’d say is that if in England people will say Marry while it is much nicer with a rolled “r”.

I’ve never heard Mari before but love it. I do like the name Emilia but working with children I know a few. Nickname Emmy is lovely.

Depends on whether you are Welsh or not, otherwise Mari will get called Mahri or Marie a lot.

Elodie is not great. It's become very popular all of a sudden and is yet another Ellie. Emilia will be confused with Amelia.

I'd be tempted to use Maria.

Of the two I like Mari better - less ‘fussy’. Agree there will be assumptions/misspellings to Marie or Maria.

Emilia is lovely

I know Japanese Mari. Many issues with people thinking she was married because of loud environments and an accent. I don't suppose yours would have this issue!

I really like NN Emmy though.

It's high on my list and I had the most wonderful great great Aunty Mari. She was a fabulous woman.

Emelia is perfectly nice but Mari is so much more memorable.
