My mum is Jane
His mum is Marion
My middle name and mum’s mum is Marie

To incorporate all - Mariane? Or is the ane ending too tenuous a link to Jane?

Lucy Mariane Blush?

OP posts:

I think that's really nice actually

wanderedlonelyasacloud · 16/06/2021 15:14

I like it 🤷‍♀️ I didnt really get the jane link until you explicitly explained it at the end of your post but mariane / marianne is a nice name

Naggety · 16/06/2021 15:16

If I were your mum I would feel a bit shortchanged tbh!

VenusClapTrap · 16/06/2021 15:17

Lovely. You can always explain the Jane part of it to your mum!

VenusClapTrap · 16/06/2021 15:18

Or, how about Marjolaine?

ShagMeRiggins · 16/06/2021 15:18

@Naggety

If I were your mum I would feel a bit shortchanged tbh!
Not if it’s Lucy Mariane.
Palavah · 16/06/2021 15:19

I wouldn't have got the jane connection. I prefer Marianne spelling. Think it's a lovely name.

VenusClapTrap · 16/06/2021 15:22

Marjan is the Dutch version of Marianne. Could work?

PurplePansy05 · 16/06/2021 15:24

I'd go with Marianne personally.

KatherineSiena · 16/06/2021 15:27

I don’t see the amalgamation. Its a pretty combination but think it’s a bit of a stretch to say the ending comes from Jane.

Ughmaybenot · 16/06/2021 15:29

I would go with Marianne but I do think it’s a lovely name 😊

Posieandpip · 16/06/2021 15:34

I think it's pretty but also doesn't really include Jane. But if her middle name is Marie then surely it's still a connection to use Marianne. Marion/Maria/Marianne all similar.

SwayingInTime · 16/06/2021 15:35

I don’t think you need to make the Jane connection at all as it’s so similar to Marie so carrying that on really. It’s a lovely name with a great associated song, I really like the combination you’ve chosen Smile

stuntfarter · 16/06/2021 15:48

Mariane is pretty and unusual , lovely

Naggety · 16/06/2021 15:49

Not if it’s Lucy Mariane.
Yes because, as you can see here, literally nobody makes the connection unless it is explained to them. OP - you could always just use both names : Marion Jane. They are both nice.

Dollywilde · 16/06/2021 15:50

I wouldn’t go for an unusual spelling for a first name but as a middle name I actually really like that! Lovely idea.

Floralnomad · 16/06/2021 15:54

If you want to name a baby after someone then use the actual name , if not I wouldn’t bother . Marianne is a pleasant enough name though .

partyatthepalace · 16/06/2021 21:33

I like Marianne but it’s a combination of Mary and Anne

Why not just use Marian Jane?

MerryChristmasToYou · 16/06/2021 22:25

It's naff.
Is Mariane a name.
Lucy Marie is nice. Lucy Marianne is nice. Lucy Marion is OK. Lucy Jane is a bit 1960s.

ILoveStickers · 17/06/2021 11:29

I like it.

If you want to get more of "Jane" in, Marjane is also a name. Or Mary-Jane.

drpet49 · 17/06/2021 11:30

I think it is naff

mistermagpie · 17/06/2021 12:05

It's nice enough as a name but nobody is going to get Jane from that! Could you do two middle names? My kids all have two and so do I because it's a family thing on my side.

ChocOrange1 · 17/06/2021 12:07

I think its pretty, but I also wouldn't notice the "ane" from Jane, because it would be pronounced differently.

Lucy Mary-Jane? Or Lucy Jane-Marie?
