Yes, don't want to upset you if you love the name OP, it's just my association. I think Magda is a beautiful name though.

Weirdly I find Magda a bit frumpy sounding - yet Magdalena far prettier, more exotic and elegant. I agree it does sound very Eastern European, although I think it's quite popular in Germany and Austria at the moment too. I also like the nn variety as well for Magdalena as well (Maggie/Lainey/Della/Lena) - I think it's a lovely choice OP!
