Our dd is probably going to be an Amelie. If we give her a nickname which do you prefer please...Ammie, Millie or Mimi? Thanks

Millie. Lovely name.

Pinkypink · 12/06/2021 20:26

Love Amelie.
Millie would be my preferred nn

MadameKali · 12/06/2021 20:39

My DD shortens hers to Ame which I hate. We don't shorten it as a rule although she's sometimes Moo.
Millie is lovely but I like Amelie so much, I don't see it needs a nickname.

Drunkenmonkey · 12/06/2021 21:31

None of those shortenings are as nice as Amelie. I think when a name is shortened to something like Millie, it then becomes their name and you lose Amelie.
If I was shortening I would occasionally say Ams or Ammy but not often I don't think.

NcagainNC · 12/06/2021 21:33

Why does it need a NN

Moonshine11 · 12/06/2021 21:34

Millie is lovely

FindingMeno · 12/06/2021 21:34

Mimi

KezzabellaB · 12/06/2021 21:38

Millie

ofwarren · 12/06/2021 21:39

I prefer Millie

butterry · 12/06/2021 21:48

Amelie is nice as it is and much better than the nicknames

Thedogscollar · 12/06/2021 22:32

@NcagainNC

Why does it need a NN
Exactly. Why does every name need a nickname. What's the point of the name then? Just go straight to the default nnConfused
partyatthepalace · 12/06/2021 23:15

Not mimi

Ammie probably because a lot of Millies around.

BAYouTFall · 12/06/2021 23:47

Name her Amelie and then when she’s born you will see what suits her as a nickname.
I thought nicknames were meant to be an affectionate term not really thought of in advance...

Stichintime · 12/06/2021 23:49

Totally wait until she arrives. NNs tend to evolve naturally, depending on what suits.

Blueeyedgirl19 · 13/06/2021 10:04

Thanks all. We will wait until she arrives and then see.

Why wouldn't you just call her Amelie? If that's the name you like then use it.

TatianaBis · 13/06/2021 10:07

Ami or Mimi.

Far too many Millies.

BlueChampagne · 14/06/2021 15:50

Wait and see. You might end up with a nickname that's nothing to do with her real name. Unless you meant diminutive, not nickname.

LewishamMum · 14/06/2021 22:09

Amy? Ellie? Love Millie, but agree doesn't need a nn
