Moonshine11 · 11/06/2021 15:40

Just reminds me of Percy pigs

toastofthetown · 11/06/2021 15:45

I like Percy. I prefer it as a nickname for Percival, but with the amount of Freddies, Alfies and Evies, Percy will be fine. It's rising in popularity though, so definitely usable.

Purpleavocado · 11/06/2021 15:47

I agree on the pig thing, you don't want other children calling him Percy pig

Wowcherarestalkingme · 11/06/2021 15:48

I love Percy. But DH and anyone else who I’ve ever said it to has had a negative reaction.

Serpenta · 11/06/2021 15:49

Oh it's such a feeble little name.

sesquipedalia · 11/06/2021 15:50

"Point Percy at the porcelain..."

I wouldn't. Although I recognise I'm a bit outdated!

HoldingTheDoor · 11/06/2021 15:50

It's possibly the wettest name ever. Well close enough. Cuthbert would probably take first place.

BackforGood · 11/06/2021 16:04

I really wouldn't.
It is just about the wettest name, a pp said, but with the added negative as it being a common slang name for a penis, and then, even if you think those two reasons are outdated, it will be forever associated with a Pig for current dc.
Just an awful name.

toastofthetown · 11/06/2021 16:05

Mumsnet really don't like Percy. You'll have lots of pig, penis and 'wet' comments on here. But if you look at the stats Percy has increased significantly and there were 128 Percys born at the last count. It wouldn't surprise me if Percy started to approach the top hundred in the next five or so years. So even if everyone else here says its dreadful for a variety of reasons, it's a name in moderate use so far from universal dislike.

Yes, Percy always reminds me of this too.

OP - please reconsider, there are lots of lovely names out there.....

LoopTheLoops · 11/06/2021 16:13

Horrible

Pieceofpurplesky · 11/06/2021 16:18

For a girl short for Persephone. Other than that, no.

mathswall · 11/06/2021 16:21

It means penis

Snapemalloy · 11/06/2021 16:40

Sorry, Percy Pigs or Percy Weasley

DramaAlpaca · 11/06/2021 17:52

Oh it's such a feeble little name.

It really is.

partyatthepalace · 11/06/2021 18:33

It’s v wet

villainousbroodmare · 11/06/2021 18:35

Not usable for above reasons.

FierceBarrie · 11/06/2021 18:39

This guy.

You can do better, OP.

Percy
HumunaHey · 11/06/2021 18:49

@Moonshine11

Just reminds me of Percy pigs
Me too. God help him if he's on the chubby side too.
wonderpants · 11/06/2021 18:54

I must be old if I'm the first to say Percy Sugden.
I quite like it!

CherryonBiscuit · 11/06/2021 21:14

I love the name Percy
I don't see it as any wetter than Alfie Albie Archie etc all those type of names are popular. I prefer Percy

ofwarren · 11/06/2021 21:19

Reminds me of the green train on Thomas the Tank Engine.
I really don't like it

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 11/06/2021 21:21

Awful. Sorry. Makes me think of Percy Sugden, Percy pigs and Percy from Thomas the Tank Engine

Scarby9 · 11/06/2021 21:22

Not for me, no.
Although, bizarrely, I like Perseus.

IsThePopeCatholic · 11/06/2021 21:30

Awful. In the 1970’s, there was a very dodgy character in films called Percy.
