Love it.

DramaAlpaca · 10/06/2021 23:12

Love it. Simple and unfussy. That spelling only, no extra letters required.

Mareofwesttown · 10/06/2021 23:13

Lovely.

ghislaine · 10/06/2021 23:13

Lovely. Simple, classic and easy to spell.

Nannyamc · 10/06/2021 23:19

Love it i dont have a daughter but i would have chosen this Gentle and feminine go for it.

VenusClapTrap · 10/06/2021 23:57

Loved it ever since I read Charlotte’s Web as a child. Sadly it didn’t go very well with our surname so dd missed out.

partyatthepalace · 11/06/2021 06:11

It’s alright...

LowryLake · 11/06/2021 07:50

Thanks all - nice to get some positive comments 😊 I think it's lovely. Still only on the 300s according to ONS stats, I wonder why it's not more popular...

I think Fern is lovely in its simplicity. This is the only spelling I like though, good luck!

cushioncovers · 11/06/2021 08:53

Loved it since I first meet someone with that name 30 years ago. It seemed so exotic to me back then.

toastofthetown · 11/06/2021 08:56

I love Fern. Pretty and simple. I’m surprised it’s not more popular too. Even with the rise in nature names I don’t see much more attention on Fern. The Charlotte’s Web association is lovely as well.

daisypond · 11/06/2021 09:18

It’s a yes from me.

SirVixofVixHall · 11/06/2021 09:19

Lovely. Works well for any age too, unlike many girls’ names.

PopOfNothing · 11/06/2021 11:33

Really like it, my dd had a friend at Primary School called Fern back in the 2000s. Its a name that never seems to date.

KelleyHIJkL · 11/06/2021 11:38

Lovely.
I know a little Fern, she’s lovely and her mum gets loads of compliments on her name.

TempsPerdu · 11/06/2021 11:57

I wonder why it's not more popular...

I think it might be partly because it’s only one syllable and therefore doesn’t work with many shorter surnames - that’s what prevented us from considering it anyway.

Other than that it’s lovely - simple, fresh, timeless lovely foresty nature connection. Don’t like any of the alternative spellings though.

Purplecatshopaholic · 11/06/2021 12:09

Defo a Yes from me. Lovely name

Eaumyword · 11/06/2021 12:11

Pretty name!

I think because it's a name that was relatively popular not that long ago, maybe the 50s and 60s, it's maybe got that 'mum name' association for people who are currently having babies. So people who are looking for a nature name might pass this one over as not being cool enough.

Just my theory. It's a nice name though.

LowryLake · 11/06/2021 17:28

Yep, you may be onto something- and the fact that it's one syllable, which is offputting for some. I think it's due a come back though!
