Something Scottish/Viking? Brother for Magnus

We are going round in circles and baby is due next month!! Love Malcolm and Ruaridh but DH hates them! Any ideas?

He was father to the famous Earl (and saint) Magnus. Both are still relatively popular names in Orkney.

Torben is a Danish spelling of Thorbjørn/Thorbjörn which is an Old Norse name meaning Thunder Bear. That's quite cool and not overly used in the UK. Sounds good with Magnus too

I think thunder bear for the win! Not thorbjorn but actually thunder bear. I can't imagine how someone named thunder bear would ever find life difficult

Several Scottish kings were called James, David, William, Robert, John and Alexander, all excellent names, if not perhaps obviously Scottish.

Other options which haven't stood the test of time as well: Kenneth, Donald, Duncan and Stuart/Stewart.

Love Magnus. Eric (or Erik) is similarly very cross-cultural so is the obvious choice to me but I love the Torben or Leif suggestions too. But wild card - how about Alaric? Visigoth rather than Viking but I think Alaric and Magnus sound great together!

I was going to suggest Somerled but I see others have beaten me to it. I think Finn & Struan are good (one of my son's is a Struan so I may be biased). Both are easily pronounced & spelled. The same can not because for Ruaridh. I have 3 boys all with Scottish names . Duncan is also a great name & is I think one that wasn't as popular in the resurgence of Scottish names.
