What "fun" name did you give your child whilst pregnant?

My DD has a perfectly normal name. But during pregnancy I called her "The Papaya" and made sure everyone else did too. The reason? At the time of my anomaly scan the NHS website said that was her size! (I didn't announce my pregnancy until after that - long story.)

Anyway, just wondered what fun names people had called their own bumps. I was Gary btw!

@Bluebell9

DD was pumpkin as her original due date was the 31st October. I still call her my little pumpkin now
My first DC was Pumpkin, too!

DD1 Annie (because she was conceived on our wedding anniversary)
DS1 Carol-Ann - no idea why!
DS2 Noel - because we had our 12 week scan (and it suddenly started to feel real) at Christmas

Fanny 🙈 I'm in Scotland and had an unhealthy love for irn bru when I was pregnant.... at the time the irn bru advert was about naming a baby fanny so my bump was christened fanny 😂

I love the Irn Bru 'Fanny' advert!

No idea how the actress playing the new mum managed not to crack up when saying "Fanny. We're going to call her Fanny" 🤣

Bart and then Eric.

I was certainly she was a boy!

DH was training to be a vicar whilst I was pregnant with ds so my dad used to refer to the bump as Holofernes, who is a particularly obscure biblical character. It did not make it onto the name shortlist Grin

DD was called Bug. I can't remember what DH called DS, but my family called him Sunshine. He is a very sunny natured little guy so it suits him :)

NewlyGranny · 08/06/2021 12:50

The twins were Poppy and Sweetpea throughout. Poppy turned out to be a boy, and Sweetpea got a totally different name IRL! Inspiration was from our favourite flowers.

DH picked the weirdest name on our baby name list and started jokingly calling her "Little Strangename"

Of course, we both got used to it and actually gave her the name when she was born Grin

Borka · 08/06/2021 15:54

Nessie - as in Loch Ness Monster

Meceme · 08/06/2021 16:03

Nancy Knickers (no idea why, it just sounded nice) or Elvis when I wanted to annoy MIL
Born early with no name agreed she very nearly ended up as Nancy....lovely name but too heavily invested in Nancy Knickers .. it would have stuck.

DS1 was Fidel (as in Castro). I am not sure exactly why but then he is almost 22.

Pretty good name I think now, tho I prefer his real name. I think maybe we did it to horrify my mum and then make her more accepting of his actual name (which I knew she would hate and find "old-fashioned dear" tho now it is in the top 10!)
