Really struggling to name our second son. We have Welsh/English/Jewish heritage. We don’t want another Old Testament name or anything Royal. We’ve trawled the top 100 and don’t agree on any of them.

I know, It’s hard...Tobias and Raphael are also in the Old Testament.

Names we both like, but cannot use include Vincent, Osian, Sidney and Otis. We also like Nico, but don’t feel we can use it without appropriate heritage. I also like modern Hebrew names like Osher and Oren, but my partner isn’t keen.

What about Sean? Similar sounding to Osher.

Or Theodore - not a biblical name, but one that connects to faith. Teddy is a very cute nickname Smile

My son's great uncle Reuben had a brother called Alfie

Chilldonaldchill · 06/06/2021 23:10

Tobias is only in the apocrypha so many people would not consider it a "proper" OT name. I really like it with Reuben.
Or how about:
Miles
Milo
Theodore
Benedict
Sebastian
Christopher
Victor
Xavier
Zachary (might be too close to Zachariah?)

Theoldwoman · 12/06/2021 05:14

I love Reuben.

NameChange30 · 12/06/2021 07:51

Why don't you want an Old Testament name?

Most of my favourite boy's names are in the OT.

Because we aren’t religious, so it doesn’t feel right to us. We used Reuben due to Jewish heritage and its meaning and do love lots of OT names, but don’t want to use another.

Thanks for all the recommendations - good to add some more into the equation. I really don’t like Tobias for some reason, but it does seem very popular at the moment
