For humans or kittens?

User629202 · 03/06/2021 14:59

Ebony is quite pretty. Don’t like ivory - horrible associations with dead elephants.

If you’re considering them as a pair for twins / siblings then seriously just don’t, it’s ridiculous beyond words.

Live together in perfect harmony?

merryhouse · 03/06/2021 15:03

We all know that people are the same wherever you go. There is good and bad in everyone

Live together in perfect harmony?

grapewine · 03/06/2021 15:05

Please don't for children. I have the song in my head already.

AuntieStella · 03/06/2021 15:08

There is good and bad, in everyone...

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 03/06/2021 15:08

Used together they must be names for pets - a black and a white kitten/ puppy/ rabbit/ rat sibling pair.

Ivory isn't a name and obviously has the poaching/ endangered wildlife/ bone yard about it.

Ebony is a name obviously - used alone (without pairing with ivory) its usable but obviously brings the expectation of a raven haired child... Still people do use colour names without them "fitting" (Bianca isn't always pale and blond) Ebony is at least a given name.

Librariesmakeshhhhappen · 03/06/2021 15:11

Ebony is fine, but not Ivory. And please please do not use both names for siblings/twins. It's just great too stupid.

Librariesmakeshhhhappen · 03/06/2021 15:11

*far too stupid.

GreenWheat · 03/06/2021 15:12

Poor Ivory! That's just to fit in with Ebony. Step back a minute and imagine a child making her way alone without her sister there. "Hi, I'm Ivory....". Don't do it.

Guardsman18 · 03/06/2021 15:14

Salt and Pepper is nice though!

EmmaGrundyForPM · 03/06/2021 15:15

For twins or siblings? Absolutely not.

For a pair of rabbits, possibly.

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 03/06/2021 15:17

You could do Ruby and Pearl instead (although it brings to mind characters in bad novels its a better pair). I suspect that the OP is looking for names for pets or fictional characters in a creative writing piece, not real human babies.

Hallyup6 · 03/06/2021 15:24

Ebony sounds like a stripper's name. Ivory isn't a name. Don't be so daft as to use them for actual real babies.

RickOShay · 03/06/2021 15:29

I really like Ebony. The one I know is blonde Smile
Bianca or Chiara mean white and clear, if you would like a contrast.
Or Blanche?

BackforGood · 03/06/2021 15:36

Awful

pilates · 03/06/2021 15:43

TellmewhoIam · 03/06/2021 16:17
