Eve or Evie

Love the name Evie but aware it's been popular now for a lot of years. Love Eve but is it a bit bland? Looking at using both names but for her official name, what do you prefer...

Eve with the nickname of Evie whilst she is younger

Evie with the nickname Eve

Any other name suggestions welcome, I like Thea, Violet and Willow but other half isn't keen

Evelyn on the birth certificate? Then she could be Evie, Eve or Evelyn. I think they’re all lovely actually. & although I always read about how popular they are on here, it’s not an experience I share in real life. Smile

I'm bias, as people like to say these days, so I'd go for Eve. Diminutives can follow.

Evie is my daughters name - I have only bumped into 1 or 2 others in the park / play centre, it's not a name I hear often where we are from. I absolutely love it - loved it before she was born and love it more now. :)

My daughter is Eve on her birth certificate, but everyone calls her Evie. She is only 4, so I wanted her to have the option of a more grown up name when she is at secondary school or older, although a lot of kids have nicknamey names as their given names, so nobody would bat an eyelid at an Evie in the sea of Molly, Maisie, Katie etc.

I also love Genevieve with Evie or Eve as nicknames but DH wasn't a fan.

Eve

Eve is gorgeous - for some reason it is the least popular variation of the "Ev" names in the UK and yet it is the "original" and imo the most elegant and classic feeling. Eve isn't the least bit bland - in fact a long time ago it would likely have been considered very daring because of the Biblical namesake.

Eve also has the "cool" factor Evie lacks a bit to me - Eve's used for a fair few Sci-fi/fantasy characters because of it's fun palindrome factor and the fact it means life. Actually the only thing that puts me off Eve a bit is that she could get confused with many more Evie's, Eva's, Ava's and Evelyn's around currently (nothing wrong with those names themselves but they seem so popular, they kind of blend together).

RedcurrantPuff · 04/06/2021 01:08

I think Evie is much nicer

Eva is nice but I don’t like Eve.

DramaAlpaca · 04/06/2021 01:09

Eve, definitely.

Thank you for all your comments, we are going to go with Eve Roselyn 😀

We have an Eve and we alternate between calling her that and Evie, best of both worlds!

WakyWally · 06/08/2023 20:41

Abit twee for an adult.

Eve. Both names are done to death, though!

midsomermurderess · 08/08/2023 19:38

Done to death: a pity if it's your name.

Coffeeandcakemum · 08/08/2023 20:56

Eve 😊

SausageRoll2020 · 10/08/2023 16:53

Go for Evangeline, Evangelina or Evelyn. Then you've got both Eve and Evie as nickname options and a 'fuller' name should she want then option later in life.
