We're struggling to decide on a boys name. Needs to go with our son Isaac.

Which sounds better?

  • Noah
  • Jacob
  • Lucas

Surname is one syllable and begins with S
Other suggestions welcome.

we have 6 sons: Joshua, Samuel, Michael, Noah, Isaac & Elijah
(also a daughter, Elizabeth)

considered Aaron, Dominic, Jonah, Jethro, Micah, Levi, Nathan

would have loved some names that were already in the family so we couldn't use: Reuben, Thomas, James, Daniel, Benjamin

I love biblical names so that was #1 criteria

resm · 02/06/2021 21:02

Noah or Jacob.

IggyAce · 02/06/2021 21:08

The Isaac I know has a sibling called Jacob. I do like Lucas from your list as well.

mondler · 02/06/2021 21:14

My immediate thought was Noah but all are lovely. Does the s at the end of Lucas flow ok with your S surname?

daisypond · 02/06/2021 21:29

Jacob. Lucas is the nicest name but doesn’t go so well. Not Noah.

Adventing · 02/06/2021 21:38

Like all your options, I think Noah is my favourite. Also like,

Jude
Joel
Daniel
Ethan

Joseph

Elijah

babyguffingtonstrikesagain · 02/06/2021 21:46

Sebastian!

Camandmitch · 02/06/2021 21:46

Lucas

DalPalak · 02/06/2021 22:19

I feel like I know too many little Noahs! Jacob is a great name and not too popular these days. Lucas could be a bit tricky with an S- surname.

Tillygetsit · 02/06/2021 22:45

Jacob gets my vote hands down.

MrsBertBibby · 02/06/2021 23:03

Joseph

TenThousandSpoons · 02/06/2021 23:50

Another vote for Jacob.

Samlouise89 · 03/06/2021 07:07

Thankyou for your suggestions. My husband likes Lucas and I'd not even thought about the flow with our S surname. I prefer Noah and our son Isaac prefers Jacob. My husband is worried if we chose Noah or Jacob it would be too biblical but I love biblical names. Unfortunately we can't have Joseph, as our godson is named this. Lots to think about!

Luke? That way you avoid the -s ending with S surname and you get your biblical name.

FelicityPike · 03/06/2021 07:50

Jacob. Links with the biblical theme.
Matthew.
Aaron.
Jude
Luke.

Penny21xxx · 03/06/2021 12:16

What about Luca as an alternative to Lucas?

Samlouise89 · 03/06/2021 12:39

Thanks, My husband does also likes Luca

Not as keen on Luke, but my husband does like Luca.

I have an Isaac and if he had a brother (he won't!) I love Jonah, jethro or jago. For some reason I love the j names.

Jude
Matthew

Variations on some suggestions above:

Elias
Lucius
Nicholas
Nicodemus (ok that’s maybe too much)

I love Jacob but... Jacob and Isaac..
