For a girl. I think I like it. A bit too Malory Towers?

Love it.

eepeep · 01/06/2021 23:49

It is not at all to my taste, and a bit confusing on a girl. But it is not the worst I've heard!

Dahlia444 · 01/06/2021 23:54

Hmm. I'm a bit worried about the boy/girl confusion, also can't really think of any plausible nicknames. But I've got a bit attached to it!

A person I truly distrust and dislike is called, "Darrell" and I think the name is terrible due to association. However, that person is a man.

"Darrell" for a girl is okay but I much prefer "Daryl".
There's Daryl Hannah, the actress.
Daryl Hall is a man but it's a cool spelling and he's a pretty cool guy.

JoveWhenHeSawMyFannysFace · 01/06/2021 23:58

I think it’s fine as long as your surname isn’t Rivers Grin

villainousbroodmare · 02/06/2021 00:01

I like it. There's also Dara which is lovely for a boy or girl.

peaceinourtime · 02/06/2021 09:16

I love the name Darrell for a girl, inspired my Mallary Towers. My only fear is it would be shorted to Daz as a nickname which I don't like

zingally · 02/06/2021 17:24

Way too Mallory Towers. Plus Darrell wasn't always that nice.

Strokethefurrywall · 02/06/2021 17:26

Love it. But I love Daryl Hannah so it’s a thumbs up from me!

Monicuddle · 02/06/2021 17:27

It’s quite a male name, which I say even being a lifelong MT fan. Felicity is much nicer IMO :D

Or Bill!

AbstractHeart · 02/06/2021 17:31

Not a fan of gender-flipping names - DH has a name which is far more common for a woman and I'm constantly having people think I'm referring to a female friend (or lesbian lover) when I mention his name. It's annoying! Also no one can spell it.

Why not make your DD's life a little easier?

copperpotsalot · 02/06/2021 17:36

Came on to say I hate it assuming you meant for a boy but actually for a girl I think it's pretty cool

Dahlia444 · 02/06/2021 17:37

Thanks all for comments. It is true that the only Darrell (or Darryl) I know IRL is a 60-something man.

I'm probably being nostalgic! Loved MT. It'll stay on the list.

Like Dara, agree dislike Daz.

I love love love it.

KingPong · 02/06/2021 17:52

Love it, such a cool name.

SnowdaySewday · 02/06/2021 17:58

Daryl spelling is better.

What about Daria?

cookiecreampie · 02/06/2021 18:33

Hate it.

ofwarren · 02/06/2021 20:25

I really really hate it

marypoppinsreturns · 02/06/2021 20:43

I like it for a girl, I'm also recalling it from Malory Towers. Don't like it all for a boy though. I actually quite like what are usually boys names for girls, like Drew or Cameron (like the actresses!)

partyatthepalace · 02/06/2021 23:46

I think the association for a girl is a lot better than a boy. But I’d be thinking brown gymslip

Thedogscollar · 03/06/2021 03:45

If you loved Mallory Towers why not call her Mallory?

starrynight21 · 03/06/2021 04:40

Funny how names can have a different vibe depending on where you live. I'm in Australia - every Darrell here is male and they are all nicknamed Daz or Dazza.

KM38 · 03/06/2021 04:53

@Dahlia444 The only Darrells I know are male but I don’t dislike it for a girl 😊 I also know a Darelle (Dar-Elle) which I guess is a more “feminine” version 😊

Jabba2020 · 03/06/2021 04:56

Really like it, Daryl is better for a girl though.

AnyaMoondial · 03/06/2021 07:26

I like it.
