Maude?

I just saw this name on a kid's show today and all the other characters called her Maudie. Suddenly this name seemed adorable.

Thoughts?

If not, what name would you pair with Tabitha?

Aww. Maude is sweet. Can't believe so few people are feeling the Maude love here.

peboh · 31/05/2021 21:13

I don't think Maude goes well with Tabitha at all. It's very meh compared.

Yes I really like it, they go together but have a nicely different sound. Jane or Jean might do a similar job. Beatrice nn Bea, Frances or Edith also,

Eloise, Jemima, Delilah all feel very similar - maybe too matchy/twee as a pair

Verity, Marianne, Louisa, Adela, Emmeline, Claudia, Matilda, Rosemary or Susannah all go well

I like it but would always choose to spell it Maud.

My first instinct was the lovely Claudia - imo a subtle Biblical with a vague cat association like Tabitha. They are also both slightly quirky feeling to me and well known, yet not over popular.

Maude feels quite different to Tabitha imo - more a trendy vintage/old-fashioned feel. Matilda (with the traditional nn of Maud if wanted) would work better style-wise with Tabitha to me.

Keziah/Cassia, Verity, Felicity, Juliet, Roxana, Celia and Susannah also came to mind as having a similar style to Tabitha to me.

Our little one is called Tabitha and it's a name we thought very long and hard about. Beatrice would be a very nice name for a second or Matilda (Tilly)

We decided against Beatrice as our surname begins with the letter J

I quite like Maud but it’s a bit dour compared with the pretty Tabitha. I like the retro style though. How about
Daphne
Sybil
Imogen
Or maybe something like
Sorrel
Gaia
Ines

Tillygetsit · 31/05/2021 23:01

Sorry but Tabitha is so beautiful and Maude...isn't. It's so clumpy and frumpy and I agree with pps who said they'd be fuming if their sister was Tabitha and they were Maude.
Eliza goes well and has the same 'weight'.
