Ophelia?

Not sure what we are having yet but I have a feeling its another girl. Our first daughter is called Honor Florence LastName
At the moment potential middle names for baby2 are Lavender or Grace
Opinions on Ophelia?
Ophelia Lavender - bit too much of a mouthful
Ophelia Grace - I do love this but I feel like Grace gets used a lot for a middle name
Does it sound right with Honor? I really love her name and want to find a name I love just as much for this baby!

I like it! A strong and elegant name. Really don't like lavender for a middle name but Ophelia Grace is beautiful....

AhaShakeHeartbreak12 · 25/05/2021 20:45

I love it, absolutely beautiful. Would've been my name choice if I had a girl and didn't have an awful surname haha

partyatthepalace · 25/05/2021 20:50

Honor and Ophelia are a lovely combination

For middle names Lavender is a bit of a mouthful and Grace very overused - Jane, Pearl, Frances, Katharine, Beatrice might all work well.

Biscuitsneeded · 25/05/2021 20:53

Ophelia Marguerite
Ophelia Juliet
Ophelia Iris

I love Ophelia

Ophelia is gorgeous - as long as your surname doesn't rhyme with anything rude. I don't think it works very well with your middle name choices though - Lavender is too much and Grace sounds okay but is a bit boring. How about something short/simple but less commonplace with it - Faye, Eve, Gwen, Nell, Blythe, Tess, Maeve, Hope etc?

Okaliedokalie · 25/05/2021 22:07

Sorry but just reminds me of the word paedophilia

QueenofDestruction · 25/05/2021 22:14

Love Ophelia, worked with one and her second name is Anais, which means Grace. How about
Ophelia Ivy
Ophelia Juliet

As much as I like the name, the association just makes me think of the character's awful fate in Hamlet. And the famous painting depicting it.

I find it overly frou-frou whereas Honor has a nice simplicity to it.

DramaAlpaca · 25/05/2021 23:16

It's too 'tragic heroine' for me, I'm afraid. It does sound good with Grace, though.

I'm not sure it 'goes' with Honor, it's very frilly in comparison.

amallierory · 26/05/2021 07:17

Honor and Ophelia go really well together. Neither of them are to my taste particularly, but they do make a nice pair.

I consider Honor quite a simple name, and Florence an elegant middle name. Whereas Ophelia is a more elegant first name, so I think it needs a simpler middle name to balance it out. Lavender is too much, but Grace is perfect.

Side note: I vaguely remember seeing a thread quite a while ago asking for opinions on the name Honor Florence. Could it have been you? Grin

Ophelia Frances
Ophelia Winter

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 26/05/2021 11:35

I love it.

But I do think ‘give us Ophelia tits’

I’m not a fan of Ophelia, sorry. Too long and fussy for me.

Tavannach · 27/05/2021 06:17

It reminds me always of ‘Hamlet’. She had such a tragic life I wouldn’t use it.

stickybear · 27/05/2021 09:00

Ophelia Hope sounds lovely Smile

TatianaBis · 27/05/2021 10:06

Love Ophelia Iris.

Grace is just a bland filler name.

Amdone123 · 27/05/2021 10:12

I love Honor. It's classy and elegant. Orphelia - too many for me. It's like Arlo for a boy. A bit too try hard, IMHO. Juliet has the same vibe as Honor for me. I've always loved Grace and only know of 1 !

ILoveShula · 27/05/2021 15:53

Iris has a similar vibe to Honor.

Ophelia is 'Feel yer' to me, and is too fussy, too hamlety and too similar to Amelia, Aurelia etc. Delia is nicer

KaptainKaveman · 27/05/2021 15:57

It's beautiful. Of all the characters in Hamlet she is the only one who is pure and uncorrupted. Her brother calls her 'Rose of May' when she dies - why don't you call your dd Ophelia May, or Ophelia Rose? truly Shakespearian (and exceptionally pretty).

SteveArnottsCodeine · 27/05/2021 16:08

I’m sorry but whatever else Ophelia is- and in isolation I can see that it’s quite a pretty name- it’s literally only associated with one story and in that story Ophelia drowns!!!
