Siera Aleira?

I just read an article about that woman who got herself in the papers for an affair with Ryan Giggs (probably done nothing since) - Imogen Thomas. One of her daughters is called Siera Aleira. I thought how strange it looks. Has anyone else ever heard of these two names before? Siera looks as if it's been spelled incorrectly - but I am thinking of the car my dad used to have, or Sierra Leone (thank goodness Imogen didn't give her child Leona as a middle name).

I have heard of an Elira, (el-EER-a). strangely lots of people got her name wrong, calling her Elaria, Alaira, Ilaria, ...

Yes, same. But I’ve never heard of the name Aleira before; if it’s pronounced Ah-LEER-ah it’s not so bad (although I still wouldn’t use it personally).

I’ve only ever known Sierra to be spelt with a double r, as well.

Siera (also spelled Sierra) is from the Spanish word Serra and is the name of a beautiful mountain range in eastern Spain.

Google says her other child is Ariana Siena.

I read it as Sierra Aneira - Aneira is a Welsh girls name pronounced Ann-EY-ra (ey as in hey and ra as in rabbit) and Eira is a Welsh name which is also the word for snow.

Siera Aleira is an unusual name but both names look to me like they could be names from another culture.

If the 'eira' part of Aleira is pronounced like Eira then it's actually quite a pretty name.

The fact that one name has ie and the other ei will be confusing for people the child's whole life. Both names are a bit odd
