Ayda or Ria with DD’s name isn’t great it’s too rhymey

Checkingout811 · 22/05/2021 01:12

Albhíe is my favourite. Beautiful name.
I also like Ayda

UhtredRagnarson · 22/05/2021 01:17

Meàbh- prounced Maeve

The fada goes the other way round and goes over the e- Méabh

Ayda

This isn’t an Irish name.

UhtredRagnarson · 22/05/2021 01:20

Albhíe

Do you mean Ailbhe?

RainingZen · 22/05/2021 01:27

Ayda

DramaAlpaca · 22/05/2021 01:31

There's so much wrong here I don't know where to start Confused

You really don't have a clue about Irish names, do you?

Your fadas are all over the place, and Aoibh doesn't have one.

Your daughter's name should be pronounced REE-o-na, not RAY-na.

Ailbhe is pronounced AL-vah, not 'albee', and it doesn't have a fada.

Ayda isn't Irish, and neither is Ría.

You're either on the wind up or don't have a scooby about Irish names.

Ríoghnach and Ria would be interesting 😂.

Well obviously not Ria because too similar to your daughters name, so is Ayda to a degree. I’d go for Albhíe- - pronounced albee

I’d avoid Eve because so popular (I know it’s not the same name but it sounds the same), I don’t like Maeve much and it’s also having a popularity moment,

ILoveStickers · 22/05/2021 13:58

Ailbhe pronounced Alva is probably what you're after... But it might be worth going for a simpler one like Orla?

I too would have assumed your older daughter's name was pronounced REE-uh-na (or maybe REE-na if said quickly).

Chunkymenrock · 22/05/2021 14:08

None of them. Cara or Eithne.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 22/05/2021 14:15

Bridie.

PastaLaVistaBBY · 25/05/2021 04:33

Meàbh is beautiful

LizzieAnt · 25/05/2021 06:43

It's Méabh though.
I'm sorry OP, as pp have said there are problems with all of those names (either spelling, pronunciation or both). The last two aren't Irish at all. Méabh and Aoibh (no fada) are nice. Ailbhe (Al-veh) is too.

DalPalak · 25/05/2021 23:54

Is this a joke thread? I'm not Irish and even I know these names are not correct. And surely anyone who has met a Siobhan knows that bh=v sound.

All that said Meabh is a fab name. (Sorry I don't know how to do fadas.)
