Violet or Mairi?

We've been settled on Violet for quite a while but now I'm not so confident about it. We also like Mairi (We're Scottish hence this spelling & pronunciation). Also not too bothered about how popular a name is if it's outside the top 30 which both names are.

Opinions?

Mairi is my second name. Pronounced Mah-ree as you say, OP. I love it too. I've met very few fellow Mairis, we are very rare.

Unless you go to Scotland. Very common there.

Definitely Mairi (as in the song, Mairi's Wedding).

Violet by far, it's beautiful.

Another vote Violet Mairi.
Love love Violet- says more about the few people who see violent than the beautiful name IMO- such a weird comment to make.
I know a super cute little Violet, would use it in a heartbeat!

I had a classmate at school called Mairi, pronounced as you described. Didn’t like her much, but loved her name!

My DD2 is called Violet and I adore it. I have always had really lovely comments about it

My daughter is called Violet, she is nearly 5 months. Always had lots of compliments on the name. It's is beautiful and quite classic.
