Tessa and Thomas

Hello!

We have a Tess and Tom and are expecting DC3 shortly. I don't know whether its 3rd baby fatigue, but I just feel completely perplexed by what to call this next little one.

My preferred name for a boy is Kit (Christopher on BC - this requires a whole other post of using this on BC :)) - but DH just doesn't seem excited by it. DH quite likes two names for boys which two aunties have the female version of these names. I just feel like this is a bit meh and a shame to use a name already used in the family. Doesn't seem very special.

For a girl we both like Clara and kind of like Annabelle (but I can't really get excited by this). These are both fine, but I just can't get super excited by them.

So I would love your boy and girls names suggestions. General comments:

  • No more T names :)
  • I love that Tess is known but really uncommon. We much more open to an unusual girls names, but nothing too trendy or out there.
  • I love that Tom is strong and classic but that you don't meet too many of them around surprisingly (well at least we've never had any in any of his classes).

Any help is very appreciated.

How old are ex you DC? Could they have some input? They may come up with things you hadn't thought of

kmini · 20/05/2021 11:36

6 and 3. DD has come up with Bella (which is sweet when she says it) - she is also in a rhyming phase - so Chella and Wella also came up!! DS has come up with some absolutely doozies!!

I know you said no more T’s but I think Thea sounds lovely with Tess and Tom, it’s short like the other names and not an obvious link as it the Th sound rather than a hard T.

kmini · 20/05/2021 12:00

I really like Thea too @cbeebiesrehab - but almost everyone in my family would say Fea and not Thea. Not ideal!! :)

I think you should go with a T name you obviously like them and that's why you are struggling. I'm always drawn to B names.

Tara
Tia
Tasmin
Tina
Tilly
Tabitha

MumofSpud · 29/05/2021 12:49

My DD was going to be a Tess (but I can't stand Tess Daley - I know that is shallow and I don't have great memories of doing Far from the Madding Crowd in my GCSE!)

My DS's middle name is Tom so I think we are on a similar wavelength!

In the end we went with Esme

But other names on our list:
Violet
Isla
Iona
Thea
Cerys
Hono(u)r - this was DH's idea!!

Boys:
Kit
Euan
Ned
Ed
