Hi everyone, just trying to decide between Lyla or Sienna for our baby’s name. Which is nicer/prettier?

I prefer Lyla but personally I would spell it Lila. Or how about Lyra?

WisestIsShe · 14/05/2021 22:14

Lyla.

Elzibells · 14/05/2021 22:17

Sienna for me, I think it's a beautiful name.

Harvey3 · 14/05/2021 22:18

Sienna

Futuremum1234 · 14/05/2021 22:51

Ps her brothers name is Joseph

I’m not keen on Lyla so it would be Sienna for me. I love Lara though.

brizzlewizzle · 14/05/2021 23:20

How about Larissa - a combination of the two (ish!)?

Happycat1212 · 14/05/2021 23:38

I wouldn’t spell it Lila as I would pronounce that as lee la instead of lie la. I prefer sienna of the two

GiveIrelandBackToTheIrish · 14/05/2021 23:39

Lyla like Lie la or Lee la?

GiveIrelandBackToTheIrish · 14/05/2021 23:40

But I prefer Lyla as Sienna seems sort of harsh Smile

stickygotstuck · 14/05/2021 23:43

Lyla (lie-la).
To me Sienna is a city.

partyatthepalace · 14/05/2021 23:44

Sienna of the two
Lyla sounds a bit made up and just blends in with all the Lola/Lena/Leah/Lara/Layla/Lyra/Lilas around

I prefer Serena, Susannah or Selina to Sienna though, and think they go better with Joseph’s rich history

Futuremum1234 · 15/05/2021 01:29

Pronounced ‘lie la’

Sienna.

Too much potential for bullying with the other name, imo.

MercyBodle · 15/05/2021 03:18

I prefer Lyla.

Peachbubble · 15/05/2021 07:04

Lyla would be my choice.

Hippopotas · 15/05/2021 07:19

Sienna

BabyBunnyMama · 15/05/2021 07:56

Both lovely names but I prefer Lyla 😊

MaryBoBary · 15/05/2021 08:42

I would do Lyla with that spelling. Lila leaves it open for people pronouncing it Lill-ah similar to Lilleth.

PassGo · 15/05/2021 08:47

Sienna.

Lena, Liana, Layla, Celine, Serena, Celeste?

Nonameyet1 · 15/05/2021 09:02

I prefer Lyra over Lyla.

So would go for Sienna

999Alex · 15/05/2021 09:54

Sienna would be my preference

KirstenBlest · 15/05/2021 14:53

Lyla is horrible, Sienna is not as bad.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 15/05/2021 20:39

I'd choose Lila - spelt this traditional way (or the even prettier Lilah is sometimes used too). Lyla will just get confused with Lyra, which is becoming more popular.

Sienna is quite celeb trendy, so not my taste, sorry.

Joseph is more a traditional/classic name though, so imo the suggestions of the classic Lara, Serena or Susanna "fit" even better or perhaps Sara, Lydia or even Laura?

Ellmau · 15/05/2021 21:31

Not super keen on Lyla spelt that way, it makes me think of Tate & Lyle.

Would Lilah/Lila work for you?

Sienna makes me think of the colour, burnt sienna.
