Maximilian or Maddox?

We are expecting no.3, we don't know what we are having but have picked two boys names.

Our other sons name is Jenson and our daughter is Roseanna.

Maximilian or Maddox?

Also any suggestions of middles names?

Thank you!

Maximilian is great

I think Maddox is awful

Maximilian James, Francis, Augustus.... and s sound at the end seems good

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 14/05/2021 19:34

Maximilian! Maddox is too celeb associated. If you want the nn Max but worry abut the length of Maximilian, then you could also consider Macsen, Magnus or just Maxim.

Middle names would depend on your surname length, sounds, starting initial etc but generally I'd suggest longer first name/shorter middle name (or vice versa).

DramaAlpaca · 14/05/2021 21:16

Of the two Maximilian.

BramStoker · 14/05/2021 21:21

I’m not a fan of either sorry

Maximilian is 5 syllables which IMHO is too much of a mouthful

Maddox I think of as a surname (or a wannabe celeb name)

Thanks all

We are leaning towards Maximilian which I think will be shortened to Max.

I suppose names are a bit like marmite, as a teacher it's difficult to find names I like 😂

Maximilian is fine. Maxwell is another alternative with Max as nickname.

Middle names - Peter, Jasper, David, Idris, Raymond, Vincent, Ashley, Charles

Nonameyet1 · 15/05/2021 09:00

I quite like Maddox.

Maximilian is more main stream.

krj2688 · 15/05/2021 09:14

@PassGo
We do like maxwell but it sounds like a coffee with our surname 😅😅😅

I do like Jasper for a middle name or David as it's my grandads name

I like both! As youre going for maximilian I think a short middle name like Scott/Seth/Paul ie one syllable would work! Love your other kids names too by the way. Used to babysit a Roseanne when I was a teenager, Roseanna is lovely too.

I'd just go for Max which is what he'll probably get anyway
Maddox is awful and
Maximillion or variations are too much of a mouthful

Cbeebiesrehab · 15/05/2021 13:31

Prefer Max but with a Jensen and a Max people may assume you’re massive F1 fans, which probably isn’t a big deal but thought I’d mention it.

Ellmau · 15/05/2021 15:16

Maximilian is great.

percheron67 · 15/05/2021 16:12

Maximillian is great. Maddox is (a) a surname and (b) too American.

Babydust13 · 15/05/2021 23:46

I love Maximilian I'm not a fan of Maddox at all

Ihavehadenoughalready · 15/05/2021 23:54

I much prefer Maxwell to either of your choices.

Ihavehadenoughalready · 15/05/2021 23:55

Oh sorry didn't see the coffee problem with Maxwell.

Shall I assume your surname is something like "House"?

LOL!

AnotherSunrise · 16/05/2021 00:05

Max

djungelskog · 16/05/2021 11:35

I like names that are like marmite. In fact any kind of preserve makes a perfect name for a young boy! My 2 are called Jam and Jelly Smile

I know of a girl called Maddox.

Graymare · 16/05/2021 14:21

Hmm, personally prefer Maximilian by miles. However I feel Maddox is more compatible with your existing DCs names.
Sorry, probably not helpful!

krj2688 · 16/05/2021 14:56

Thanks everyone. We do have the option of just having Max.

Everyone has different opinions on names 🙃there are plenty I really dislike and think are awful, especially coming from a teaching background 😂 @bakedpolar

I like both but prefer Maximilian and prefer it with your other children's names.

Maximilian David sounds great!
