Sibling for Saul

Hi all,
We are sorted for a possible boy’s name but would really welcome name suggestions for a sister for Saul?
We both really like Beatrix but not sure if it’s possibly a bit of a marmite name? We also loved Martha but it doesn’t go with our surname at all so that’s out. Husband also keen on Anna and Alice.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give us!

Alice and Anna are lovely

Saul is such a great name

How bout Lois, Esther, Ines, Jocelyn, Honor, Cleo, Juno, Stella, Astrid, Robin

Of the ones on your list I like Anna best - a classic, though not as interesting as Saul. Beatrice and Alice both fine, but very standard issue - I would feel a bit hard done by next to Saul if I were them.
Martha just makes me think kitchen drudge

Anna
Abigail
Bina
Rachel
Rebecca

All lovely names with Hebrew origins, as has Saul.

Saul is such a great name!

Personally I find Anna and Alice a bit dull and commonplace in comparison; I prefer Beatrix (nothing wrong with a marmite name!) by far.

@partyatthepalace - lovely suggestions thank you! Fair point about Martha, I often think I’m more a Martha than a Mary when it comes to social events, something I’m working on!

@elfran yay a vote for Beatrix! Smile I like the nickname Bea too and it goes well with our surname... I don’t know why I feel like it would be a brave choice when it is a classic name. I’m a teacher so keen to get a name I don’t have any associations with and isn’t overly popular but it’s tricky!

I like Anna and Beatrix. Alice is fine but a bit dull. I don’t know why I don’t feel Anna is dull but I don’t. Hannah?

SeptemberDreams · 12/05/2021 18:14

@lemonsyellow I agree... Anna still feels somehow quite fresh even though it’s so simple and classic. There is a Hannah in our family already but it’s a lovely name

Catmuffin · 12/05/2021 18:23

Rachel, Esther, Hannah

Catmuffin · 12/05/2021 18:24

Sorry missed what you said about Hannah

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 12/05/2021 18:56

What a shame you can’t have Martha. It’s a beautiful name.

Saul and Alice are an excellent pair.

Tillygetsit · 12/05/2021 22:54

Saul and Beatrix are lovely together. Bea is very cute.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 13/05/2021 00:52

To me Beatrix is no more a marmite name then Saul (as Beatrix is a less common variation of Beatrice, just like Saul is the less common variant of Paul).

If you love Beatrix, I'd go for it - the nn Bea is lovely imo, and as much as I love both classic Anna and Alice, they are quite popular in comparison to Saul and Beatrix.

Other ideas that "go well" with Saul to me - Ruth, Claudia, Miriam, Mara, Talia, Tabitha, Talitha, Jemima, Keziah, Damaris.

Sadieeloise5687 · 13/05/2021 01:11

If you like bea how about Belinda?

Genevieve? I think this goes with Saul...

Greenmarmalade · 13/05/2021 01:13

Anna goes well
Asha

Beatrix is great. There are a few Beatrices these days too.

Asherline · 13/05/2021 01:16

Saphiara (not sure spelling but love the name )

Sadieeloise5687 · 13/05/2021 01:19

One more suggestion - how about Eliana they you can call Anna as a nn too but the name a bit more different

daisypond · 13/05/2021 09:34

I don’t think Alice really goes with Saul. They’re very different. Saul is Hebrew and Alice is Germanic/English. They jar to me.

SeptemberDreams · 13/05/2021 16:35

More great suggestions, thank you all so much!
