Is Adrian making a comeback?

Heard it a couple times recently on young ones. I still think ot it as a really dated name! It's nice enough though, have I missed something and it's suddenly become on trend?

No.

I think it will be a while before it has a full come back. Haven’t met any myself - but maybe your mates are in the vanguard

Not on friends babies but when I've been out and about, maybe I misheard! Grin

According to the statistics no it's not making a comeback it's declining

TeaAndToastx2 · 08/05/2021 22:39

I know a baby Adrian but my first thought was that it was an unusual choice these days, I haven’t heard it anywhere else

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 08/05/2021 22:39

Not yet. Give it another 20 or 30 years though (assuming there aren't also a lot of female Adrienne's at the same time, which sometimes puts boys parents off).

SirSamuelVimes · 08/05/2021 22:43

I really like it. Adrian, Adrienne, Aidan, Adam - all great names!

YouSeeMee · 08/05/2021 22:51

Know a couple little Adrians in families of Eastern European origin. Pronounced with a short 'a' like apple: Ah-dree-an. Ah-dree for short. I really like it

TedHastingsweeDonkey · 08/05/2021 23:03

Nope.

mnahmnah · 08/05/2021 23:05

I know an Adrian in his late thirties and he has always hated his name. It has always felt like an old man name to him

BackforGood · 08/05/2021 23:06

I've not met any or heard of any in last 8 years or so, (and, through work I have to go on a massive database and look at LOTS of names some days), but I actually quite like it.
I don't think it is 'from a time' nor any particular era or decade. I think it is a nice name Smile

Chilldonaldchill · 08/05/2021 23:48

I've met a few children from Romanian families who are called this. I think it's more common in Eastern Europe.

CombatBarbie · 08/05/2021 23:49

My dad and brother.... Brother is 35, not heard it on anyone younger

elp30 · 08/05/2021 23:56

My son is Adrian and he's 29.

I know two that are under 15.

Lollypop4 · 09/05/2021 00:00

I know one , late 30's

reallyalurker · 09/05/2021 07:43

Nora Roberts has a new book coming out with a heroine called Adrian.

DinosaurDiana · 09/05/2021 07:46

No.

Onlinedilema · 09/05/2021 07:47

It will make a come back , it’s just a bit too early. It’s a 1960s name. Name currently on trend are older, grandad names for new parents such as Wilfred and Arthur.

romdowa · 09/05/2021 07:48

Most names cycle through again and again. I don't see the point of caring if a name is popular or not.

MooseBreath · 09/05/2021 11:22

When I was pregnant, DH and I jokingly nicknamed the baby Adrian. It got to the point where it was a genuine consideration. I went from finding the name quite silly to actually liking it.

In the end we went with another name. I'm glad we did - DS does not suit Adrian!

user1493494961 · 09/05/2021 13:19

It's an OK name, I think it will come back, Simon is another name I think is due a comeback.

Violetlavenders · 09/05/2021 14:26

Why does it matter if a name is 'on trend'?

I'd much rather have a timeless name that I don't have to share with lots of others.

Adrian is a good solid name. Easy to spell and pronounce!

ThatIsMyPotato · 09/05/2021 14:48

I like it, and Aiden. I think Kevin is due a comeback.

Lemonelderflower · 09/05/2021 14:50

I don’t mind it actually but I do think Mole and also you inevitably get people spelling it as Adrain.

CirqueDeMorgue · 09/05/2021 14:51

Lovely name, reminds me of Rosemary's Baby 😉
