@stickygotstuck

It has to be Raven, which is the coolest name and the coolest bird in the whole wide world!

But can I ask, why do several PPs think Elvira is a gothy name? It was my Great auntie's name and we almost gave it to DD.

Beautiful name with a lovely meaning 'joyful' - does not seem very goth to me!

Have you seen the Experian advert?

'I thought you said your name was "Raven"?'

@enterthedragons & @motherloaded I didn't know. Oo that just makes it extra dark doesn't it! Lucey–Driscoll is a metabolic disorder I guess everyone should be competed humiliated if they like the name Lucy (particularly those pesky Chinese tatted commoners ey). 🧹

This has been thoroughly enjoyable to read through and I didn't expect sooo many bloody relies ♥️🧙‍♀️. Yes it's for a real person not writing a book. Not looking for anything sinister and totally unbothered if DD loves Disney and Princess dresses. Who doesn't love a bit if Disney?

I have a huge soft spot for Salem as a name. No idea why, just love it.

BlueLobelia · 08/05/2021 16:25

Salem. That is nice. :)

From a pp - Nereida. My first boyfriend's mother was Nereida.

She was the most wonderful, warm loving woman. Died way too young of cancer.

That's a beautiful name also.

CorvusPurpureus · 08/05/2021 16:26

Heh, spot the elder goths - we're the ones who know how to spell Eloise, & why Marian & Alice are GAF Wink.

I had my dc later than many of my friends, so they were babysat by teenagers called Severina, Amelia, Drusilla...

Christabel's another good one.

Ah, ok, but that was one program a long time ago.

So, is it fair to say that that program is the only place most people in this country know it from? (I did not grow up in the UK).

Rewatching GOT right now so my suggestion is
Melisandre

I met a little toddler Valkyrie at an aquarium once. Definitely not a cutesy name!

In Norse mythology, a valkyrie is one of a host of female figures who choose those who may die in battle and those who may live. Selecting among half of those who die in battle, the valkyries take their chosen to the afterlife hall of the slain, Valhalla, ruled over by the god Odin. (Wikipedia)

@medebourne

Why on earth would anyone want to choose a 'sinister' name for their baby?! Are you a sinister person? Do you hang out with sinister people? Do you want your child to hang out with sinister people?

Being gothy when you're a suburban teenager and want to shock your neighbours and parents is quite interesting and 'edgy' I suppose, but why put that on your baby?

You might think it's naughty and rebellious to do graveyard chic, but is that seriously what you want for your child?

None of these names are sinister.
vestastilly · 08/05/2021 16:33
