Expecting our second son next week! We've really struggled to choose a name for him but have got it down to a top 5.

Wanted something not too popular but not too out-there! He will be little brother to Jensen.

Which name should we go for? And what are your thoughts on them all?

Jago or Jude (both were on our list but didn’t make the final cut!).

avamiah · 08/05/2021 03:39

Sorry to come on here a bit late but I love the name Jet .

BirdyBee · 08/05/2021 04:17

I love the name Brody!

Lawnpop · 08/05/2021 04:22

Brody or Jude, these go best with Jensen

Soulstirring · 08/05/2021 05:02

Jude or Dylan

Not felix or jago! Brody I like but sounds American

butterry · 08/05/2021 05:18

Dylan or Jude but I think Dylan is better with Jenson. Jude and Jenson feels a bit too much. Felix is a cat name, no idea how it’s pronounced but Jago spelling makes me think of Jäger bombs!

@Gothichouse40

Gullible, Ive already apologised and really feel there is not much more I can say. It is not a common name where I am from and I live in an area that can be quite rough. Ive obviously really upset you. Next time I will try and think, before I speak.
No need to apologise twice! You do realise I posted once? It was another poster that quoted your reply to me. Just in case you’ve assumed I was having a go - I’ve only read yesterday’s first apology now and not really sure why you’ve apologised twice unless you’ve not realised it wasn’t me that quoted your post.

Anyway, I also live in a rough area but a name like Jago would be fine. As another poster said it would be a great fit alongside all the recent Hugo and Arlo type names. It’s also rare these days for kids to get teased about their names, not like when I was at school in the 90s/00s.

Gothichouse40 · 08/05/2021 10:39

Gullible , things may be different where I live. It also maybe stems from my own experience, I had a very unusual name and was teased/bullied for ages and it also got constantly misspelled. If things are different now, then that is good. If you were at school when you say. You are obviously younger than me. Take care.

MyCatIsADentist · 08/05/2021 10:41

I like Felix and Jude.

Squidgling · 08/05/2021 10:45

I like Felix and Jago the best (DD2 was going to be Felix if she'd been a boy and I had Jago on my list but DP didn't like it much). However as you already have a J name I would personally avoid another one as I like my children to have names beginning with different letters. So I'd choose Felix.

BrutusMcDogface · 08/05/2021 10:48

My son’s two names and my cousin’s child are all on your list! So, I like all of them except Jago.

Squidgling · 08/05/2021 10:51

If popularity will bother you Jude is pretty popular at the moment and I think the most common of your choices (where I am anyway) There are 2 in my 3 year olds nursery and there was 1 in my now 6 year olds nursery class too.

Edenember · 08/05/2021 10:53

Jude and Jago I feel go best, and they’re my favourites but I’d stay away from another J initial. Brody is too American for my tastes and I don’t feel it suits a grown man. Dylan is nice but very different stylistically to Jensen and shares a similar ending sound. So by process of elimination I’d go for Felix.

GreyStairs · 08/05/2021 10:57

I love brody! Especially with your choice

beepbeepbonk · 08/05/2021 10:57

Jude. The others all sound a bit like labradors.

Edenember · 08/05/2021 12:24

As someone who lives in a very wc area, I think Jago would be very well received as people would assume it’s a ‘yoonique’ name if they don’t know the origin and history of it being Cornish Jack. As another pp has said it shares the -o suffix with a raft of other trendy names atm. I really like it, I just don’t like two J initials. J and K seem to be the letters beloved by people who theme their whole brood with the same initial, maybe inspired by the Duggar’s and the Kardashians.

CathyTre · 08/05/2021 20:35

I have a Felix. A Felix Maximilian in fact. I receive UC and am a single parent. Go figure.

CathyTre · 08/05/2021 20:39

Bad luck to the middle classes and their assumptions: I also have Samuel James and Leo Alexander. Leo only doesn’t have longer than a diminutive because I’m Catholic and Leo is fine on its own. Carry on though with any class descriptors...

shiningstar2 · 08/05/2021 20:46

Dylan is the best imo. Not overused, great for a kid and fine for a grown up. Not as in the magic roundabout. As in Dylan Thomas great poet Smile

HelenHywater · 08/05/2021 20:51

Felix is lovely. It's my ds's middle name as I couldn't get it past my H.

CathyTre · 08/05/2021 21:08

Leo also absolutely is a name in its own right. If you believe me, check list of Popes going back centuries.

My Felix is five. No bullying about his name.

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 08/05/2021 21:48

Felix - cat food

Dylan - I only know one and he is a lovely boy

Jude - Australian surfer or jude law (awful)

Brody - the sheriff in jaws.. so I love it!

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 08/05/2021 21:49

So to sum up I love Brody, like Dylan, hate Jude and Felix

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 08/05/2021 21:50

Sorry I missed out jago.

I'm not sure about that one. Sounds a bit game of thrones wannabe

FartleBarfle · 08/05/2021 21:57

Jude, Jago or Felix I think. Great shortlist! Good luck! X
