Sophie or Sophia?

Please help! We can’t decide between Sophie or Sophia! It’s disappointing that both names have become so popular but we love them. Which one is best? We are leaning towards Sophie as it seems there are less of them being named that currently. Hoping that there won’t be many in her class. Oh and she’s already been born so definitely running out of time!

I agree, Sophia seems to be more popular at the moment.
I like both, but think I prefer Sophia.

flashylamp · 05/05/2021 11:04

I prefer Sophie to Sophia.

QwertyGirly · 05/05/2021 11:05

If you like both, I'd say which ever sounds good with surname.

I like Sophie better.

Sophie

Spied · 05/05/2021 11:17

Slightly prefer Sophia but it's just so so popular.
I do like Sophie.
How about Sofia so at least it's the less popular spelling?

MondeoFan · 05/05/2021 11:42

Prefer Sophia but due to popularity I'd go for Sophie

emmathedilemma · 05/05/2021 12:18

I prefer Sophie, Sophia has extra level of "frilliness" that's too much for me!

partyatthepalace · 05/05/2021 12:27

Whichever goes best w your surname

bluebabydinosaur · 05/05/2021 13:06

Thank you all! Want to make the right choice for my beautiful little girl. I find names hard!

NannyR · 05/05/2021 13:21

I prefer Sophie, as others have said, Sophia is a bit too frilly and very popular at the moment.

StevieNix · 05/05/2021 13:22

I think Sophie is so much prettier than Sophia - and it’s less popular at the moment

paralysedbyinertia · 05/05/2021 13:23

I like both but prefer Sophie.

Sophia is more popular at the moment, but I wouldn't let that swing the decision either way. Just go with the one you like best.

Tal45 · 05/05/2021 13:43

I prefer Sophia but like both.

Euridicefortuna · 05/05/2021 13:51

Sophia but it is quite popular at the moment. Sophie sounds like a middle aged woman.

I prefer Sophie. Lovely name

bluebabydinosaur · 05/05/2021 14:24

Congratulations, and name your baby whatever you’d like. Both names are lovely.

Just here to say there’s nothing frilly about Sophia, so don’t let that deter you. Grin
