Hello, I have a son and daughter already named Ethan and Penelope and was wondering which girl name goes best with them as a little sister. We are deciding between Juliette and Annabelle. Thanks

I like Juliette best if the two, though both lovely. Also she won’t end up in a class full of other *belle/bella ending names

JohnnyEnglish · 01/05/2021 15:38

Both lovely but agree with @2tired2bewitty

bonfireheart · 01/05/2021 15:38

I prefer Juliette- but not if its shortened to Julie or similar.
Annabelle is lovely- and still sounds lovely when shortened to Anna or Belle.

SelkieIntegrated · 01/05/2021 15:40

So weird Annabel or Juliet were on my list bu had aboy

OloBo · 01/05/2021 17:07

Both lovely, but I’d go Annabelle (although I’d prefer Annabel)

Orangebug · 01/05/2021 17:08

I prefer Juliette but would spell it Juliet

Floralnomad · 01/05/2021 17:09

I prefer Juliet , with that spelling .

SnuggleWuggle · 01/05/2021 17:09

Juliet - spelled that way so it’s strong rather than flowery.
Annabelle is a haunted doll 🤣

NicolaDunsire · 01/05/2021 17:10

Annabel and Juliet are nicer spellings.

I prefer Annabel but they are both nice.

GreyhoundG1rl · 01/05/2021 17:12

Juliet is lovely. Annabelle is very twee, plus it's an actual doll's name.

HuntingoftheSnark · 01/05/2021 17:42

I much prefer Juliet, with that spelling, lovely name and goes well with your other (equally lovely) names.

lottiegarbanzo · 01/05/2021 18:10

Both lovely, though def Juliet spelling.

MimiSunshine · 01/05/2021 18:33

I have a Penelope and my favourite name for another girl was Juliette (we also briefly considered Ethan for a boy). But DP changed his mind as he really hated the idea of it being shortened to Julie.

We did consider Annabel too (preferred this spelling though) at one point so personally I do t think you can go wrong either way.

partyatthepalace · 01/05/2021 18:33

I prefer Juliet and think it goes better with your names. I like Annabel too though.

But I would loose the French spellings, they are really fussy.

KFleming · 01/05/2021 18:35

Annabelle, with that spelling.

But if you went for Juliette, I’d spell it Juliet.

Sexnotgender · 01/05/2021 18:36

Love Juliette though I’d probably spell it Juliet.

I very nearly called my new baby daughter Julia. It was in my final 3. Really love it.

TurquoiseDress · 01/05/2021 18:49

I prefer Juliette

SpeedRunParent · 01/05/2021 19:15

Annabel with any spelling is ever so commonplace now. I know four under 13. Juliette is unusual and can be shortened to Jools, which is cool.

MooseMoose · 01/05/2021 19:45

Annabel and Juliet are much better spellings - less frilly. Both nice, I'd probably go for Juliet, though I hate Julie as a nn. I know an Annabel who is lovely. Occasionally shortened to Bel.

seadreams · 01/05/2021 20:01

My sister is Juliet and I think its a lovely name however its ALWAYS misspelt. The juliet/juliette thing is very annoying and people even spell it Juliete sometimes. Annabelle would also have this issue but probably less so.

lottiegarbanzo · 01/05/2021 20:41

I can't imagine Juliet being shortened to Julie. They're very different names. Jules or Ju, yes.

Aurorie11 · 01/05/2021 20:44

Juliet, abbreviated to Jet or Ettie

lottiegarbanzo · 01/05/2021 20:50

I'll throw in that to my ear, Penelope is of an era (1950s) with Diana and Susannah, possibly Annabelle, whereas Juliet is more classic. But Ethan sounds more last ten years, so matching probably isn't what you're going for.

I do think Annabelle sounds lovely whenever I hear it. It's a very 'complete' name, that doesn't invite shortening, despite being so easily shortened.

KirstenBlest · 01/05/2021 20:59

I'd spell them Annabel and Juliet. Both fine, but I'm not keen on the frillier spellings.
I prefer Juliet but dislike Jules, so I'd pick Annabel.

BrilliantBetty · 01/05/2021 21:05

Gone off Annabelle as it's v v popular/ common. Not necessarily a bad thing but Juliet feels a bit more unusual and memorable.

Doesn't have to be shortened to Julie, there are lots of other options inc. Jules, Ettie (or kept as Juliet)
