We don't know what we're having yet but really struggling to find any names we like. Nate is one I came across the other day on TV and really liked it as does DP. Not keen on Nathaniel/Nathan so Nate would be full name. Thoughts? It's not one I've heard of so much. I also liked Elliot but DP isn't keen but would be happy to use it as a middle name so possibly Nate Elliot. Any other suggestions similar to this?

I like it, i would probably assume a shortened form but It’s becoming more a name in its own right with use. Do you generally like short names?

I love it, my friends GS is Nate not shortened from Nathaniel or Nathan. It’s a lovely stand alone name. He’s 7 and doesn’t know any other Nates.

partyatthepalace · 01/05/2021 10:08

I like it but would personally call him Nathaniel for full.

EvilOnion · 01/05/2021 10:11

I like it and don't think it needs a lengthened version Smile

Most shortened forms are becoming names in their own rights now and I always think it's a bit weird when people put names they never intend on using on the birth certificate.

Not my taste, sorry (not keen on the sound, too harsh for me) - weirdly I really like Nathaniel though!

MercyBodle · 02/05/2021 09:23

I really like Nate and I think it's fine as it is.

daisypond · 02/05/2021 09:26

Sorry, I don’t like it unless short for something.

sarah13xx · 02/05/2021 09:35

Nate was one I had circled in the top 1000 names, really like it! Also like Elliot, it’s always been one of my favorites. Tate is also one I like and Cree. Most similar to Nate is probably Ned but I was put off it due to living in Scotland and the word Ned meaning chav here 🙄

itsgettingwierd · 02/05/2021 09:37

Nate Elliot is a great name.

I do like Nathanial and Nathan but Nate isn't often a nn for them and is great as a stand alone name.

bdd2017 · 02/05/2021 09:42

I love it!

RuthW · 02/05/2021 10:10

Nate is ok but Not with Elliot as they run into one another. Reminds me of Nuttella.
