For our second DS - is this a nice name in your opinion?

It's what my next DS will be called when he arrives Grin

I think it's beautiful

DinosaurDiana · 29/04/2021 19:56

I know a Francis and he always get called Frank or Frankie.

twoofusburningmatches · 29/04/2021 19:57

I love it, especially Francis.

partyatthepalace · 29/04/2021 22:04

Yep, very

Fabuleuse · 29/04/2021 22:07

Love it

StillRailing · 29/04/2021 22:10

It has always been one of my favourite names.

Marmaladeagain · 29/04/2021 22:13

I like Francis - always good to have the more formal version of a name to pull out of the bag when the situation arises. Not so mad on Frank but as a nn for Francis it's ok, just so long as not only a Frank.

Baby Francis sounds very sweet.

Twizbe · 29/04/2021 22:17

I like it, it's a family name for me. The female is my middle name and we have one in each of the past 5 or 6 generations.

Pretty timeless

DramaAlpaca · 29/04/2021 22:23

To me, Francis is a very nice name. Frank/Frankie is not. I'd only use Francis as a middle name for that reason.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 29/04/2021 22:23

Francis is elegant, traditional and underused now imo. The nn Frank brings the name down to earth, more "man of the people" sound to me. So it's nice to have both options for the name (it's Frankie I'm personally not so keen on - either a bit childish or feminine sounding on a boy imo).

waitingforsun · 29/04/2021 22:28

Francis or Frances are top of my list for our next DC. So, yes, love it!

ladygindiva · 29/04/2021 22:41

Yes it's fabulous. Love it.

FluWorldOrder · 29/04/2021 22:43

Yes, I love this! Seriously considering it if our next DC is a boy. Although I don't want a name that every second boy has and it seems to be very popular.

Tillygetsit · 29/04/2021 22:53

The Francis in our family is known as Fran. I'm a southerner currently living up north so the difference in pronunciation would drive me potty but its a lovely name.

ZebraKid71 · 30/04/2021 05:46

I have a toddler Frankie who is officially a Francis so its a yes from me!. I love it, I like names that have options.

There were 264 babies called Francis last year in England. I think a lot of people really like the name but that doesn't mean they will all use it
RuthW · 30/04/2021 07:27

Lovely

StillRailing · 30/04/2021 12:20

I didn't use it.
It must have been one if the many vetoed by my husband!

StillRailing · 30/04/2021 12:20

I haven't known one for years tbh.

k4523 · 30/04/2021 12:22

Love it but my husband didn't like it and my parents hated it so was a no go!

Tal45 · 30/04/2021 12:40

I don't like it, it makes me think of Francis in MIC and I imagine any bloke called Francis to be like that, pretentious, camp and up themselves. I don't like Frank either but quite like Frankie.

FluWorldOrder · 30/04/2021 21:03

Yes true @tigerbread20. At least it's not in the thousands!

ThatIsMyPotato · 30/04/2021 21:09

Nice, I like it
