Thoughts? What is your favourite and least favourite (or do you hate them all Grin) and why?

Old lady.
If you really must.
The pooh.

Twickerhun · 29/04/2021 16:45

I love Winnie and hate Audrey and I don’t know why!!! Cecile I’m not sure about. Sorry if that’s not helpful. I assume it’s a weird association thing.

CaitlinEJ · 29/04/2021 17:56

Love Winnie, hate Cecile (no reason why). Audrey I wouldn’t say I have an opinion.

partyatthepalace · 29/04/2021 17:59

You mean Cecily not Cecile do you? I would spell it with a y otherwise will be endless correcting.

If so then prefer Cecily by a mile to the other two.

Edenember · 29/04/2021 18:48

Cecily by a long way, but spelled Cecily. Winnie is my least favourite, I just don’t get the appeal but I think I’m in a minority with that.

Ellmau · 29/04/2021 18:57

Cecilie is pretty, but I prefer the spelling Cecily. Not keen on the other two.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 29/04/2021 19:04

Cecily or Cécile = lovely names

Cecilie = hideous. I detest the recent-ish fad of replacing the -y at the end of classic names with an -ie. I know of a Poppie, a Daisie and a Pollie 🤦🏻‍♀️

EweandI · 29/04/2021 19:07

There’s a pornstar called Winnie (not sure of surname) and I can only think of her when I hear this

Tambourina · 29/04/2021 19:15

I like Cecilie

Beeeeeeeeeeeeeep · 29/04/2021 19:16

Cecily is ok. Not cecilie.
Winnie and Audrey are awful

Piptastic · 29/04/2021 19:17

Hepburn
Bill Cosby's wife
Mandela

Tianatiers · 29/04/2021 19:17

I love Audrey but I'm not keen on the other two names.

cariadlet · 29/04/2021 19:18

Audrey- Coronation Street, bit of an old lady name
Cecilie - looks like a misspelling
Winnie - Pooh or Mandela, not keen

Tianatiers · 29/04/2021 19:19

Actually, I like Cecily but not Cecilie

Silverfly · 29/04/2021 19:20

Cecily is my favourite. Or Cecilia.

zigaziga · 29/04/2021 20:10

Cecilie?

I know a Cecile (as in Se-seal), a Cicely (Si-selly) and a Cecilia (Se-see-leah). I know you can also have Cecily although I prefer Cicely. What is Cecilie? A mid-spelling of one of the 3 or a different name?

Anyway, I do like Cecilia and Cicely (or Cecily I guess). Not so much Cecile.

Audrey is nice.

I actually love Winnie but a bit nicknamey?

YorkiePanda · 29/04/2021 20:16

Audrey - reminds me of a teacher I had in primary school who smelt awful!

Winnie - will definitely get Winnie the Pooh jokes.

Cécile or Cecilie/Cecilia are pretty I think

DramaAlpaca · 29/04/2021 22:38

I love Cecily, but not Cecilie.

Audrey is elegant.

Winnie is hideous.

NameChangedForThisFeb21 · 29/04/2021 22:40

I’m confused...

Do you mean Cecile or Cecily?

I love Cecily. If you really mean Cecilie as a name then please cross it off the list! Apart from that Winnie is my least favourite.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 29/04/2021 22:58

Both Cecily and Audrey are lovely (I'd spell it Cecily unless you are living in a French speaking country). Audrey is very retro cool and is rising in popularity - so I'd be tempted to use classic, elegant Cecily of the two (Winnie is a cutesy but dated nn, so not my taste, sorry).

ShoppingPrecinctPrincess · 29/04/2021 23:44

Audrey and Cecile are fine.

Winnie is absolutely dreadful.

ShoppingPrecinctPrincess · 29/04/2021 23:45

oops, just noticed it's Cecilie rather than Cecile.

I prefer Cecile.

riotlady · 29/04/2021 23:47

Audrey- lovely and classic
Cecilie- a bit fussy for my taste.
Winnie- gonna get too many poo jokes at school

Kokeshi123 · 30/04/2021 00:25

Audrey YES
Cecile YES
Cecily YES (Cicely and Cecilia are also fine)

Cecilie is a misspelling and she will spend her life correcting spelling or correcting people who look at it and read "Cecile."

Winnie is really, really awful. I can't think of one nice thing about this name. It doesn't look nice, it doesn't sound nice, it will date badly, it is cutesy, it sounds like the noise a horse makes, "Winnie the Poo" etc.

Stressybetty · 30/04/2021 00:35

Our labradoodle is called Winnie and it suits her perfectly 😂
