Humour me

Thanks for satiating my curiosity on previous post.

Tricia is not after a relative. Was poached from a post on another forum. I quite like it and we’re not concerned with names being mum names or gran names. I like Patricia as well for DD but expect people will shorten it as they are apt to do with longer names, and I find Patti and Patsy dreadful.

What middle names would match up well to Tricia besides the expected ones?

I think a short mn would work well
Faye
Joy

Or a longer 3 syllable one
Caroline
Elizabeth

Tricia Evelyn
Tricia Cerys
Tricia Hope

Violetlavenders · 28/04/2021 08:17

Tricia May
Tricia Grace
Tricia Joy
Tricia Jane

I like long names with Tricia:
Tricia Catherine
Tricia Louisa
Tricia Felicity
Tricia Penelope
Tricia Genevieve
Tricia Jacqueline
Tricia Meredith
Tricia Jessamyn
Tricia Gillian

(No need for me to humour you - I like Tricia, and prefer it over some commonly used names here like Laila, Isla, Ava, Ella, etc!)

Much prefer the full Patricia - it feels more classic imo as it's more well used in parts of Europe, even though it's not popular at the moment in the UK (I can't get past the old chat show for Tricia/Trisha, so that feels a bit downmarket to me, sorry). I don't think you would necessarily get Pat/Pattie as that nn is quite dated - probably Tish/Trish/Tricia or perhaps Trixie at a push.

If you are going to stick with Tricia as a given name I'd definitely go more classic or popular for the middle name - (how many syllables to go for might depend on your surname):

Tricia Eve
Tricia Charlotte
Tricia Imogen
Tricia Sophie
Tricia Lily
Tricia Emily
Tricia Elizabeth

Why does it need to "go". What does going with actually mean ?

PP is saying to choose a classic or popular middle

Patti is no worse than Tricia, they are both not just dated but downmarket. Patricia will come back shortly (mid century names like Jean are already back), so I would use that, you will be ahead of the curve. Patchy is quite a cute Irish short form of Patricia.

How is Patchy better than Patti? Hmm

Can you not spell it Trisha? Trisha is a name in its own right. Tricia is a nickname of Patricia. Even if you don’t call her Patricia - everyone will assume that you have and she’ll be called it anyway. Trisha - it’s the same sound but not a nickname.

I like Trisha Louise
