Would you go for Audrey, Lydia or Zara? Or something completely different? What do you think of if you heard this as a name for a friend or relative's baby?

Due in June so sometime to go but DH and I are not moving anywhere fast on names!

Another vote for all 3 being wonderful. Have 3 daughters, and use all 3 Grin I wouldn't be able to choose between them. Fabulous choices.

Thank you! We obviously have the same taste 😆

Think we are leaning towards Audrey or Zara and will wait to see when she is born if she seems more like one than the other!

Really like Lydia
Quite like Zara too, but slightly flimsy
Am not a fan of Audrey, and think it will be very briefly popular and then not, so will date
Alternatives - Adela, Claudia, Honor, Oona, Frances, Zoe, Stella, Serena, Susannah, Esther, Marianne, Edwina

Lydia

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 28/04/2021 19:07

Audrey is fantastic! Due a revival

Arrierttyclock · 29/04/2021 11:20

Audrey. Love this name

BramStoker · 29/04/2021 11:23

Zara

AuntieStella · 29/04/2021 11:23

Audrey is still Coronation Street (been in it for decades, still going strong and one of the most watched programmes in UK, with a surprisingly young typical audience)

I like both Zara and Lydia

Meh. Put that in perspective. Population of the UK is 67 million; viewing figures for Coronation Street are around 6 million (and falling - they’ve crashed 20% over the last four years due to people switching over to Netflix). That’s an awful lot of people who don’t watch it. I’ve never watched it, and I don’t know anyone who does, to be honest.

SionnachRua · 29/04/2021 15:34

Audrey or Zara for me. Not Lydia, there's something a bit blah about it.

AuntieStella · 29/04/2021 15:38

She's been in for 36 years (when viewing figures were around 20m) She's a well known character in a very well known show

It's also the 6th 8th and 9th most watched terrestrial programme (last week's figures, pretty typical, though bumped down two places by LoD and Prince Philip's fuberal)

I’m a Zara (but a slightly different spelling).

It’s a great name, and I’ve enjoyed being one thus far. It’s memorable and stands out but doesn’t date particularly. I don’t think it’s overly feminine and fussy. It hasn’t aged in the same way some of my school peers names have.

QueenOfPain · 29/04/2021 15:49

If you’re concerned about Zara being shortened, the affectionate nicknames I tend to get are; “Zee” and “Zarzie”.

Zee from friends and acquaintances. The Zarzie one is usually just my Mum, Dad, siblings, Auntie and cousins.

mrsrobin · 29/04/2021 15:49

Zara - Have always like that name. I didn't think of the shop - I thought if Zara Philips but I like her so all good!

Thank you! It is a good name and it feels strong at the same time as being feminine. Leaning towards Zara vs Audrey and I think I've ditched Lydia now as after a pp said I now keep seeing chlamydia 🤣🙈

Lydia gets turned into Lyddie or Lyds which are both so ugly - belongs on Tupperware not a girls name. And yes chlamydia.

FrancesFlute · 29/04/2021 16:09

You have lovely taste!
My favourite is Lydia (and it's on my list for baby 2!)

SingingSands · 29/04/2021 16:10

Audrey is a fab name. My mum is an Audrey so I associate the name with fun and feisty redheads !

Albacross · 29/04/2021 16:11

Zara, then Lydia. Don’t like Audrey.
Are you one of the twins mums?

MobyDicksTinyCanoe · 29/04/2021 16:12

I love Audrey.

Have you considered Valerie too?

DinosaurDiana · 29/04/2021 16:14

Lydia

VoyageInTheDark · 29/04/2021 16:21
