Is this just hormones?

So we've had our heart set on Dexter Alan for a while now but I'm starting to think maybe I'm not that sure but I think I'm just over thinking it and starting to panic because it's such a big decision. We literally can't agree/find anything else we like as much

Alan is 100% the middle name - I'm sure I'm just worrying for nothing I have been known to worry/over think things 😂

Has anyone else had this but been glad they have stuck with it?

Thanks

Have you watched Dexter op?

Flymetothestars · 23/04/2021 17:00

Dexter is great
One of my favourite names
I can't see it being madly popular on Mumsnet but I love the name and I think you'll regret not using. What are your doubts? I don't really follow

Pedalpushers · 23/04/2021 20:27

I think it's quite cool, Dex is quite a good nickname, other than the TV show (which kids their age won't know) I can't see any issues with it?

Stevearnottsbeard · 23/04/2021 20:37

Alan is a great name, it's my very lovely dad's, altho his is spelt differently. Dexter is a nice name but I've come across quite a few pets named it recently which kind of puts me off

@Aprilshowersandhail I've seen a couple of episodes I couldn't really get in to it

@Flymetothestars think I'm just having a wobble but we've been calling him Dexter and I love the nickname Dex I think it's just because it's a bit marmite and some people aren't keen but you can't please everyone all of the time so.....

@Stevearnottsbeard Alan was my grandads name and my dads middle name so it has a lot of meaning for us.

Is he here yet?! You will probably know when you see him.

Dexter is quite a strong flavour (as opposed to a bog standard name like Harry), so I can see you want to be certain about it. Maybe try and think of a couple others and try each one for a couple days if you still aren’t sure when arrives.

Alan's fine as a middle imo, especially since it honours family. I'm not a huge fan of Dexter (simply because it sounds a bit trendy to me - in the style of Chester, Spencer etc) but I don't dislike it and it certainly shouldn't raise any eyebrows - so I wouldn't worry about it if you love it! Dex is nice - I love similar Lex as a nn for Alexander, if that gives you an idea of my taste in names.

Yes it's hormones. I did exactly the same and changed my mind when DD was born and regretted it for months! Stick with Dexter it's a great name.

@pigglepot thank you
