Eliana Hebrew origin, middle name Zahara or Zolani

Eliana Zahara
Eliana Zolani

We have boys name already as we have two boys but struggling with girls name.
Ideally Hebrew/biblical but we don't like Ruth, Naomi, Abigail, Mary, Martha, etc
I do like Elisheva, Elisha, Ariel (Disney/washing soap) Ruhami but all vetoed by DH.
Our boys have Hebrew names.

Any Hebrew suggestions will be appreciated and any thoughts on the name.

Greenmarmalade · 22/04/2021 00:19

I love both. The second is probably my favourite

DeedledeDee · 22/04/2021 00:20

Rachel,.

Rebecca

Delilah

DramaAlpaca · 22/04/2021 00:21

Same as Greenmarmalade.

LouiseTrees · 22/04/2021 00:22

Tahlia or Ziva are good Hebrew names. I like Eliana but not your middle names sorry. If pushed between those two specifically though I’d go with Eliana Zahara

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 22/04/2021 01:20

Eliana is very pretty, although El- names are quite popular at the moment. Eliana Zolani sounds nice. Have you considered Eliana Damaris? I don't think Damaris is Hebrew, but it is Biblical and has such a lovely sound imo.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 22/04/2021 01:27

Or maybe the original Sarai instead of Sarah? I think a middle name not ending an another "ah" sound would work better with Eliana.

MrsEricBana · 22/04/2021 01:41

Eliana is lovely - one of dd friends is called Eliana and I have always loved it.

Dinosauraddict · 22/04/2021 01:56

I like Eliana. Smile

Tavannach · 22/04/2021 02:14

Eliana Zahara

Mishmased · 22/04/2021 08:14

Thanks everyone for your responses. Zahara and Zolani are not Hebrew I should have added. Zahara is Arabic and Zolani is Southern Africa (nod to DH's culture). @DeedledeDee we don't like Rebecca or Rachel and I don't like the Delilah connotation 😁

@LouiseTrees Tahlia is on our list but I'm not keen on the meaning. I know the two middle names will not be everyone's cup of tea. Unfortunately DH isn't keen on Ziva as much as I love it.
@IamnotwhouthinkIam you're right EL names are quite popular at the moment but my other two options are EL as well. DH not keen on Damaris and tbh I'm not.
A part of me worries that Eliana may be seen as the amalgamation of Elle and Anna 😂
Hopefully we have another boy and use our boy name. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Eliana Zolani is lovely. A really beautiful name.

Synchrony · 22/04/2021 09:16

Eliana has a lovely meaning, but I didn't know it was Hebrew until I read your post (I confess I did think it was a modern amalgamation of Ellie and Anna).

I love Zahara although Eliana Zahara is a bit matchy with the ending A sounds. I'd use Zahara as the first name!

Zolani is interesting. I haven't heard it before. I like it.

Zipporah is Hebrew?
I've always loved the name Chava.

17caterpillars1mouse · 22/04/2021 09:41

I don't like either sorry.

Ive always thought Keturah is a pretty name

CaffiSaliMali · 22/04/2021 10:09

Eliana Zolani for me - I think it flows better as it doesn't have another 'a' ending. I also like that it's a nod to her father's ancestry.

Eliana is beautiful OP.

steppemum · 22/04/2021 10:13

I think it is lovely. Prefer Zolani as it sounds better together.

Othe unusual Biblical names for girls.

Milcah
Tirzah (I love this)
Zillah

PiratePetespajamas · 22/04/2021 10:15

Susannah. Beautiful, simple.

Mishmased · 22/04/2021 11:44

Thanks for all the replies.
@YellowTwinklyStar thank you.

@Synchrony Zolani or Xolani (with the South African tongue clicks) translates as Peace/Unity. So the two names translated can be paraphrased as 'My God has answered with Peace' a bit ott but I had a mc last year and it hasn't been easy.

Exactly what I thought might be some people's initial reaction to the name Ellie+Anna 😂
Zipporah is Hebrew yes but DH is not keen on Zipporah Zolani or Zipporah Zahara combo unfortunately. I've never come across Chava, it is beautiful but I'm sure someone will point out the 'Chav'. Is it pronounced as spelled?

@17caterpillars1mouse thanks we've both crossed out Keturah from our list.

Thanks @CaffiSaliMali 👍

Thanks so much @steppemum I love Milcah and Micah but but our eldest is Malachi. Never heard of Zillah sounds lovely. Tirzah DH will just stare at me blankly 😂

@PiratePetespajamas love the username 😁 Susannah is fab and I love the Hebrew variation Shosanna bit vetoes again by DH. If I could conceive and birth the child on my own, I would disregard DH's opinions.

Really appreciate all the replies.

No, Chava is pronounced more like Haa-Vaa and is a form of Eve.

I heard it in Fiddler on the Roof before chavs were a thing.

Mishmased · 22/04/2021 12:09

@Synchrony I love it thanks so much. Will put it to DH and hear what he says. We're in Ireland so it will be Chava until people are told the correct pronunciation 😂

steppemum · 22/04/2021 12:10

Keziah is a fab old testament name
also Zippora is cool

Synchrony · 22/04/2021 12:37

Wikipedia suggests it could also be spelled Havah.

KitchenWarrior · 22/04/2021 12:46

Eliana is lovely.

I prefer Katurah to Keturah.

Miriam is also beautiful and a v traditional Hebrew name. As long as Miriam and Malachi together isn't too much M. (Love Malachi btw!)

Mishmased · 22/04/2021 20:58

@steppemum yes Zipporah is fab but I can't use it. I'm trying to convince him with Keziah🤞
@Synchrony nameberry also suggest Zachava another Z 😂

Is Katurah a variation @KitchenWarrior? Thanks I still love Malachi years later.

OP posts:
KitchenWarrior · 23/04/2021 07:54

@Mishmased yes it's just a variant spelling. Not common but not unheard of either and I think its prettier!

TinyGringotts · 23/04/2021 08:03

@Synchrony I'm now singing the song from Fiddler "Little bird, little Chava-la...". Beautiful. There may be something in my eye.
