Hello,
DH and I have finally decided on a name for our little girl but can’t decide on the spelling. What are your thoughts on Aimée vs Amy?
We like the name as it is recognisable but not used very often these days!
Any thoughts on the name are welcome as well as similar suggestions :)

I like Amie or Amy best

Unless you live in a French speaking country, I'd definitely use the classic Amy spelling. It will make her life easier not to always have to spell her name - and there are currently more than double the amount of Amy's than Aimee's being born in the UK according to statistics.

Sorry that should say more than quadruple rather than more than double!

They're pronounced differently.

Do you prefer Aymee (then spell it Amy)?

Or Ehmay (then spell it Aimee with the accent)?

They are pronounced differently. You can’t just unilaterally “decide on the spelling”.

Although technically they are pronounced differently, I have never come across an Aimee who didn’t pronounce her name the same as Amy. Fair enough, this dies only amount to about 5 Aimees.

My sister is Aimee pronounced the usual way Aim-ee. I was always jealous that she got the prettier name.

Yes, but not with the accent on. The accent changes the end sound from ee to ay.
