Surname issues?

Would love to use the name Evelyn for new DD - we would pronounce Ev-uh-lyn (very short barely perceptible uh in middle) whereas I know some people pronounce Eve-lin.

Our surname is Head...and someone IRL said to me that we couldn’t use it the name as even though we would use the first pronunciation, if someone mistakenly said it the other way it would sound like “Evil in Head”.

Now I can’t get it out of my head!!

Is it a thing? Or am I overthinking it??? Love the name so much.

Also - I know it’s a common name and there are lots of Evies, Eves, Evas etc - all beautiful names - but we wouldn’t shorten it. Are there loads and loads of Evelyns around too who are called the full name?

I think it's fine because i would always pronounce it how you do. I've only met people who say it that way or eev-lin which also sounds fine. I've never heard any one say Eev-uh-lin personally.
Evelyn Waugh was pronounced with a long e and I've never heard a soul comment that it sounds like evil-in-war even though that actually kind of works!
Don't worry about it OP - I remember the troubles you were having finding a name with your surname and I think this is a lovely one.

'Eve uh Lyn' sounds nothing like 'evil in'?
I love Evelyn by the way. Don't know any. Don't actually know any Evie's either but my children are very young and the peak of Evie has passed looking at the graphs
