Opinions on Joanna?

Dh loves Alice, I wanted Thomasin. It seems like Joanna is likely to be the compromise. Then as a nn, I want either Joey or Josie.

Love it go for Jose Smile

AnyaMoondial · 12/04/2021 11:38

I really like it.

AlexaShutUp · 12/04/2021 11:39

I quite like it, and it might be due for a revival. Don't like your nickname ideas though.

Alice is lovely imo! And Thomasin is dreadful!Grin

Mrsjayy · 12/04/2021 11:46

Josie* sorry

weebarra · 12/04/2021 11:48

Love it. Was the name of my little sister. She got called Jo, Joey or Josie. Hated it when people got it wrong and called her Joanne.

HeronLanyon · 12/04/2021 11:49

Love it. I know a few Joanna’s - all very strong lovely women - so my associations are good.

HeronLanyon · 12/04/2021 11:49

Excuse rogue apostrophe Grin

KirstenBlest · 12/04/2021 12:17

It's fine. You count have Joni as a nn too.

Peachbubble · 12/04/2021 12:36

Love it.

TatianaBis · 12/04/2021 12:37

Thomasin is lovely. Alice is better than Joanna.

Joanna is super dated - very 80s. There were 4 in my year at junior school and 3 in my year at senior school.

If she's going to be Josie or Jo - Josephine is much nicer & more classic.

Not convinced it is due a revival.

Ejm02 · 12/04/2021 13:37

What about Josie as the full name?

thelightishere · 12/04/2021 13:52

What about thomasina?

KoalaOok · 12/04/2021 14:28

I like Joanna, she will get Joanne a lot though.
I like Josephine too and Josie.

Violetlavenders · 12/04/2021 14:29

Thomasin is lovely. Joanna is nice too, a refreshing change from all the cutesy Evie, Ellie type names. I wouldn't shorten Joanna, it's beautiful as it is. Definitely not Joey!

KoalaOok · 12/04/2021 14:29

Do you like Tamsin?

Odile13 · 12/04/2021 14:36

I like Joanna. Just as observation though, most people will shorten it to Jo no matter what you say.

lightyearsahead · 12/04/2021 14:39

Love the name, shortened to JoJo...

Violetlavenders · 12/04/2021 15:06

Joanna nickname Jo is lovely.

I've always loved the name Joanna.

cheeseandpicklesandie · 12/04/2021 15:36

@KirstenBlest

It's fine. You count have Joni as a nn too.
Isn't that's a nn for Josephine?

Joanna is nice, I don't hate it and it's different without being crazy out there.

Kanaloa · 12/04/2021 15:47

It’s pretty. I like Joey for the nickname, I probably wouldn’t use Josie because I think of that as a nickname for Josephine.

EnCee · 12/04/2021 15:55

Joanna is my name and I’ve never liked it! It was dated even when I was born in the 90s and I often get called Joanne by mistake. I’ve had various nicknames, Jo, Jojo or Joey but never Josie. So it’s a no from me!

cheeseandpicklesandie · 12/04/2021 16:12

Thinking about it just Anna seems nicer and more classic. I also feel like Joanna is missing a h, but then it's not Jo hanna.

abc4321 · 12/04/2021 16:18

It's my name though I go by Jo on the whole. Definitely not a fan of being called Joey. The Joanne thing is mildly annoying (as is being written as Joe rather than Jo) but I suspect Joannes get it more the other way round. I like my name but have heard of more boy Joes in the last 15 years or so.
