Any ideas for a name for DC4 - current children Sienna, Rocco and Valentina. I like pretty, feminine names for girls and non traditional names for boys. No idea of gender. We are Scottish but not keen on names which are beautiful such as Eilidh, Ruairdh etc

Your other DC's names sound quite Italian to me - so maybe Elio, Matteo, Lorenzo/Enzo or Dante? Or Gabriel, Raphael, Christian, Sebastian and Xavier which are very cross cultural sounding? And for girls maybe Viola, Cecilia, Ginevra, Beatrice, Camilla, Francesca, Elena or Gaia?

BelliniButterfly · 06/04/2021 22:17

Love these names! Alessia was a contender but my husband felt it was too Italian and we have no heritage as both Scottish. I love the name Emilia but in Scotland it would be pronounced Amelia which I don't like

Alessia is beautiful but would be really weird if you're not Italian, I generally find it strange when people give their children names obviously from a specific culture they have no connection to in general though, but it seems to be becoming a bit of a trend these days.

What about Gaelic type names ending in - a if you like that kind of sound
Evina
Malvina
Isla
Aila

bridgetreilly · 07/04/2021 16:18

All the names you've picked for your existing children are Italian, so I'm not sure why he's suddenly objecting to Alessia.

If it matters to you, OP Aila is not Gaelic, as suggested by an earlier poster.

Most reputable sources say that it's Finnish, for example :
www.behindthename.com/name/aila

Ailsa used sometimes to be pronounced 'Eye-la' and is Norse. Its the name of a strong place (ie Aisa Craig island) but it does not mean that.
Meaning of the name is discussed here:
