Love Cordelia, never come across Thebe before but google tells me it's from Greek mythology. A nice combo imo with a literary feel

TatianaBis · 06/04/2021 16:43

I don't like Cordelia so not one to ask but like Thebe and think they go well together. Although people may think you're saying Phoebe with a lisp.

JemimaJoy · 06/04/2021 16:57

I don't like Cordelia. I can't help imagining umbilical cords, for some reason. I don't like Thebe either, actually. It sounds like Phoebe with a lisp, as a PP said.

JemimaJoy · 06/04/2021 16:59

The two names together is a bit much... has a bit of a Jacob Rees Mogg vibe

Edenember · 06/04/2021 17:07

@JemimaJoy Ha! Fair enough

Love Cordelia.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 06/04/2021 17:58

Like Cordelia - elegant with a lot of nn choice. Thebe is nice enough - very unusual, sounds like a mix of Thisbe and Phoebe or Hebe.

Wallabyone · 06/04/2021 18:02

I love Cordelia. I'm Greek, not a fan of Thebe though. It does go well if you are set on it though.

8dpwoah · 06/04/2021 18:02

I think I'd go for Cordelia Phoebe or Cordelia Hebe personally but only as I've not come across Thebe before!

KoalaOok · 06/04/2021 18:42

I don't like it, it's a bit much and will probably get laughed at at school around here but then it depends what sort of people you hang out with I guess.

Stevearnottsbeard · 06/04/2021 19:58

Love Cordelia, reminds me of my favourite Christmas film, I'm sure I'll sound really stupid, but how exactly do you pronounce the be?

Stevearnottsbeard · 06/04/2021 20:00

Sorry, autocorrect changed it to the be 🤦🏻‍♀️ is it 'theebee'?

Chilldonaldchill · 06/04/2021 20:29

I love it. Cordelia is one of my favourite names and it sounds lovely with Thebe...

Violetlavenders · 06/04/2021 21:56

will probably get laughed at at school around here

Cordelia will get laughed at? Are you serious? Where do you live ShockConfused?

serin · 06/04/2021 23:36

DDs best friend is Cordelia, nn "Cords" which is awful (IMO).

SleepingStandingUp · 06/04/2021 23:43

Another one not sure in the pronunciation of Thebe.

Assuming Thebe is a middle name not a double barrelled first, it's fine. Cordelia is I'd say quote unusual these days but I do know one baby Cordelia and it's a pretty and sensible name. Middle names you can have fun with, I don't think anything inoffensive should be vetoed as a middle name

Edenember · 06/04/2021 23:47

Thebe rhymes with Hebe and Phoebe.

Love it

GlamGiraffe · 06/04/2021 23:55

Like cordelia but not sure it goes with thebe brilliantly. If uou live it go for it. It drpendsxa lot in your surname as you tend to only use all the names together in context with the surname, most of the time its jyst cordelua which is pretty, unusual, probably a marmite name, my daughtr also has one but that foesnt matter. Far more people on here dislike her name intensley than like it but in our real life circle its been a hit. Its a voassic name, not one of the people obvious ones for revival like the evas, violets snd ivys but a vintage name nonetheless.

SecretCiderCellar · 07/04/2021 08:00

Not together. I think the combination of stresses make it sound a bit over-elaborate.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 07/04/2021 08:01

I'm not keen on them together, it's almost a tongue twister

MrsBungle · 07/04/2021 08:02

Cordelia is lovely. Thebe just isn’t a nice sound to me.

Foxhasbigsocks · 07/04/2021 08:04

Love Cordelia

Not so sure about Thebe and I think it’s a name that people will stumble over. It will always need to be spelt out for people to fill in forms etc.

namesnamesnamesnames · 07/04/2021 08:12

Bloody love!

PigletJohn · 07/04/2021 08:32

Phoebe is called "Feebs" for short.
