I think they are - what do you think?

Yes, too similar

Savoretti · 05/04/2021 19:55

Yes way too similar

OwlBasket · 05/04/2021 19:55

I think so.

OTOH I’d not be surprised to meet siblings with such similar names, people do do it.

TheRedFox · 05/04/2021 19:57

Great thanks, thought that was the case!

Quite close but like pp I've heard far worse - it's not as if you are considering Laura and Cora. Lara and Cora at least have fairly distinct sounding first syllables (so if Lara/Cora are the only names you like then I'd just go for it - lovely names btw).

RhubarbFairy · 06/04/2021 00:25

I don't think they're too similar. I knew a Lara and Anna which I thought were similar but flowed well together.

I also know an Archie and Alfie, so you can definitely get worse.

Also met siblings once called Joanne and Joseph. Both went by the short version!

DramaAlpaca · 06/04/2021 01:21

They are fine, the first syllable is completely different.

EggOops · 06/04/2021 07:15

I think they are ok

Crunchymum · 06/04/2021 11:17

I too think they are OK.

Not too similar (in my accent at least)

BertieBotts · 06/04/2021 11:18

I think it's fine!

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 06/04/2021 11:36

They are similar, but not outrageously so, if you really like the name.

TatianaBis · 06/04/2021 11:53

No they’re not too similar.

Amdone123 · 06/04/2021 11:55

Sounds fine to me. Like a pp said, different first sounds.

TheRedFox · 06/04/2021 11:58

Thanks everyone, although a bit more confused now 🤣🤣🤣

Gorgeous names. Who cares, they won't spend the whole of their lives together. Cora is my all time favourite name.

jessstan2 · 06/04/2021 12:02

Yes, far too similar.

I knew a woman called, 'Cora', whose mother was, 'Nora'.

Cora is a pretty name but there are others.

TuvoknotSpock · 06/04/2021 12:38

Absolutely fine, they will spend max 17 years together then possibly live another 80 apart

InvincibleInvisibility · 06/04/2021 12:40

You will end up calling them Cora/Cara and Lara/Lora....

Aspiringmatriarch · 06/04/2021 12:44

I think they're too similar. I'd go for names with different numbers of syllables personally, I think it sounds better when you say them together. Not a dealbreaker if you love both names though.

Amdone123 · 06/04/2021 12:54

@InvincibleInvisibility has a very good point !

Chilldonaldchill · 06/04/2021 21:00

I initially read your post as Cora and Lana and was thinking no but I think Cora and Lara are a bit too close. They feel a little tongue-twisterish together.

BlackLambAndGreyFalcoln · 07/04/2021 11:24

As a PP said: Cora and Laura - no. Cora and Lara - crack on. They sound lovely together and not too similar!

TheRedFox · 07/04/2021 11:33

Thank you very much everyone!

I will keep it on the list but the similarity definitely needs to be taken into account.

Just need some help narrowing down the long list now...... 😭
