Amara.

KirstenBlest · 05/04/2021 18:50

Neither. If I had to choose, Amara, because Alaya is too similar to Leah.
Prefer Tamara

Amara.

I would worry about mispronunciation of Alaya - Al-ah-ya or Al-ay-ah (I would assume the first) - but I have a name that always needs spelling out and corrected so that's a personal issue!

If you're looking for similar suggestions I love Amira.

Amara- we have one in the family, utterly beautiful name in my opinion and rare!

Amara

Amara - I can see boys in their teens saying I'll lay-her for Alaya ... so really puts me off, open to horribleness

DramaAlpaca · 05/04/2021 19:30

Amara

Anystarinthesky · 05/04/2021 19:30

Alaya sounds great!! 👍👍

Edenember · 05/04/2021 20:16

Amara - completely agree with another pp, in my accent Alaya sounds like ‘I’ll lay her.’ Even if that’s not how it’s pronounced many people will assume that pronounciation and there’s just too much potential for awfulness. I had to write off Aleida for the same reason (I laid her).

Juanbablo · 05/04/2021 20:17

Amara.

MadeOfStarStuff · 05/04/2021 20:40

Amara

SnoozyBoozy · 05/04/2021 20:43

I was reading Alaya as A La ya, which sounds a bit like A Liar. But if you're saying it A lay a, it sounds nicer.

But I prefer Amara, very pretty.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 06/04/2021 00:09

Amara is lovely.
