A brother for Dorothy

Finding it hard to find a boy name that we like for new baby who will be a little brother to Dorothy. Obviously, we like a more traditional style name. I can think of loads of girls names that we’d use but have just found out baby is a boy so need to get thinking about a boy name and not feeling very inspired!
Middle name will most likely be Alfred (for my grandfather).

My grandparents were Dorothy and Thomas (Dot and Tommy).

Edwin (Ned) or Rhodri.

I also love Edwin with Dorothy although Walter was my first thought for some bizarre reason.

I think Peter goes very well with Dorothy. And I love that together they could be Dotty P!

Thank you so much everyone. What a great list of names to go through.

A few I’ve got on my list now are:
Stanley
Arthur
Barnaby (nn Barney?)
Rory
Ralph
Jacob (but don’t really like nn Jake)
Ned (would want a ‘full’ name and this as nickname)
Percy
Sidney (nn Sid)
Walter
Albert (Bertie) but not great with Alfred

I love the idea of Ted but not keen on Theodore so it’s interesting to hear suggestions for Edmund/Edward/Edwin. I have a good friend with child called Ted (Theodore) though so not sure if I could/would actually use it 🤔 I also love Ned as a nickname. Could these Ed names lead to a Ned nickname?

We’ve considered Alfred as a first name but really don’t want to go down the Alfie/Freddie nickname route which I think would be inevitable.

Would appreciate any further opinions on my little list there 😊 Thanks so much to you all

Ned is a diminutive of Edward, so you could use that as his full name?

Troyhelena · 11/04/2021 20:41

This isn’t what you asked but I just wanted to say Dorothy is a gorgeous name!

For a boy:
Dorothy and Benjamin
Dorothy and John
Dorothy and Julian
Dorothy and Theodore
Dorothy and Edward
Dorothy and Peter
Dorothy and Xavier
Dorothy and Eli
Dorothy and Barnaby

Theodore/Theo
Mateo
Nathaniel
Matthew
Jesse
Mathias
Jonathon

SumAndSubstance · 12/04/2021 17:58

Dorothy and Theodore are basically exactly the same name 😁

Violetlavenders · 12/04/2021 18:31

Dorothy + Theodore = Dorotheodore!
