Too many princess names?

We have an older daughter (6) called Arabella and are expecting twins any day now really. We are struggling so much on their names and had settled on Audrey & Quinn but are now considering Aurora to replace one of those two names.
But, my question is, is having Aurora and Arabella(Belle) too many princess names / does it sound like we spend all our time watching Disney+?!

Haven't read through all the reply's yet but just came on to say that I'm in the uk and have a Quinn. Had nothing but compliments regarding her name and she totally suits it. I love Audrey & Quinn together and it's a lovely fit with your other DC.

RedGoldAndGreene · 01/04/2021 14:53

I think you should use Quinn - you're American so the same names don't apply. Quinn would be presumably a preschooler when she lived here so I'd doubt she'd hear any negativity. After that kids might say Harley Quinn but not the other associations that adults would have.

Belle and Aurora is too Disney. You'd have to call the third girl a Disney name like Briar Rose Grin
3A names would be very Kardashian and tacky imo and strange when the boys have different initials,

Chocoqueen · 01/04/2021 14:54

I remember your previous thread. Honestly, please ignore all the negative comments you got about Quinn, LITERALLY NO ONE uses 'quim' anymore. I'm British and the first I heard the word was on your thread. And I bet 99% of people would agree. I've also only ever heard Quinn as a girls name. Please stick with Quinn as a lovely family name.

I prefer Audrey to Aurora. Though I am ever so slightly disappointed you didn't go for Pippilotta. It was really growing on me towards the end.

OysterMonkey · 01/04/2021 15:09

I think Arabella, Felix, Hugo and Audrey are a very similar type of name.
Quinn is different. But it’s fab that both your grandmothers are Quinns, so I totally see why you want to use it.
But I think I’d try to find another name that goes with Quinn. Not matchy matchy, as I think that’s crap for twins. But just fits better with Quinn.
It needs to be something a bit less classic.
Your other kids’ names are definitely classic, as is Audrey. And Quinn, whilst lovely, isn’t.

OnwardsAndSideways1 · 01/04/2021 15:11

I'd rather be a Quinn myself than an Audrey, so would vote Quinn!

Nancydrawn · 01/04/2021 15:12

Aurora will not go over well in Greenwich.

10 to 1 she gets called Rory.

If you must name them all A names, go for a classic: Alice, Abigail, Anne, Amelia. Or I guess classical? Athena, Aurelia, Allegra. I'm still also a fan of Astrid.

If you don't like Alexandra, you can always try Alessandra. (Say it's after Alessandra Ferri rather than Alessanda Ambrosio.) Nicknames there are harder to control.

Quinn is far, far, far better than Aurora. It also means a lot to you. I'd keep it. If you're moving back to America in 3 years, you know Quinn won't seem weird.

Finally, I'd say it's a bit odd that you want your daughters to have the same initial while your sons get to have their own. I think that feels weird. If it were me, I'd keep Quinn and ditch Audrey.

MsJuniper · 01/04/2021 15:13

I really like Quinn, can see her being really cool as a teen.

What about Audra? A little less Disney than Aurora and with the same number of letters as Quinn.

karenvand · 01/04/2021 15:15

Have a look here twin girl names that comes with Arabella

laughoutquiet · 01/04/2021 15:17

Audrey and Quinn.

Love these!

cordelia16 · 01/04/2021 15:17

I definitely prefer Audrey to Aurora.

BUT, if you use one of those names, pls keep in mind that Arabella and one of the twins (Audrey or Aurora) would share an initial letter. Wondering if that would make Quinn feel left out. Her twin sister and her big sister both get A names, but she doesn't.

In that case, I would find a different name for Audrey/Aurora that doesn't start with an A. What about Sabrina?

Pemba · 01/04/2021 15:18

Sorry, I know you love it, and I know Quinn is used as a girls' name in the US, but really it is nothing more than a surname (Irish I think), and to me it doesn't have an attractive sound at all.

And I can't help thinking that with two sisters with such girly, princessy names, little Quinn would feel that she has got the short straw, as you feared. Couldn't you just use it for a middle, if you're so attached to the name?

Derbee · 01/04/2021 15:24

I would never have 2 children with the same initial. As they get older, post will be a nightmare, and they’ll be constantly opening each others mail. Never thought it as an issue until I met my DP at uni, and him and his brother were always opening each others bank statements etc

cordelia16 · 01/04/2021 15:30

Just saw your updates.

Not sure why you're set on one of the twins having an A name. Why not give each girl a unique initial letter, the same way you did with your boys? Two A names will leave one twin feeling left out, and three A names would just be so confusing.

Arabella, Audrey, and Aurora all sound so similar. There are so many beautiful non-A names out there. I suggest keeping Quinn (which I like), and then finding an alternative for Audrey/Aurora.

Ohdoleavemealone · 01/04/2021 15:35

Quinn to me is a boys name but as you will be back in the US by the time the baby starts school I don't think it matters.

Rukaya · 01/04/2021 15:42

I have 2 with the same initial, it is not and never has been a problem of any kind. They have no issues with mail, ever.

GwendolineWindowlene · 01/04/2021 15:51

IMO the names of your existing children are very much of a type - quite Joules-esque. Audrey to me feels a bit more Muswell Hill, but I like it and it does work with the others. Aurora is just too Disney, I can't get on board with that at all. Quinn just makes me think either 'boy' or 'quim'.

I also think it would be weird for Quinn to not only have a completely different type of name to everyone else - no big deal if you only have two kids but very noticeable when you have five - but to be so explicitly named after two grandparents. If that was me I'd feel simultaneously denied my own identity but also marked as different to all the other kids.

sarah13xx · 01/04/2021 16:00

@twinmama2021

Yes! That’s us! Quinn is quite possibly my favourite name of all time but (and perhaps this is my fragile pregnancy brain feeling overwhelmed) I can’t stop thinking about all the negative and at times, really unkind comments about the name Quinn and I just don’t want to set my baby girl up for life with a name that doesn’t go over well in the U.K. If we were in the US I wouldn’t be wavering at all but as we’ll be in the U.K. for the next 3 years at least, or until OH is transferred back to NYC, I’m just feeling a little worried :(
Quinn is lovely, I considered it for a boy but think it’s nice for both!
TatianaBis · 01/04/2021 16:10

Personally I prefer Aurora to Audrey, but my frame of reference is not Disney and beauty pageants.

I like Aurora and Alexandra together - both classical names. I can’t stand Lexi so that would be banned but I like Zsa/Xa. Rory and Zsa is cool.

ThatWouldBeEnough · 01/04/2021 16:13

I love the name Quinn - I don’t know why others think she would draw the short straw! And I think it goes fine with your other children’s names! Slightly prefer Audrey over Aurora but both are lovely.

FeelLike · 01/04/2021 16:13

@twinmama2021

You’re overthinking this way too much, especially for 3 years in the UK. Quinn is absolutely lovely (I’m in the UK). Aurora is popular and IMO not as nice as Audrey. I don’t think she’ll feel left out because of the letter her name starts with. I also don’t think Quinn is harsh/ tomboyish!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 01/04/2021 16:26

If you're not bothered about the names matching then no worries but I wouldn't put Quinn with Audrey. I don't get where people are coming from when they're saying 'Oh they go well together. Audrey is old fashioned and quite frumpy and dowdy whereas Quinn is hip fresh and modern. Anyway that wasn't why you called.
Aurora and Quinn are okay together. Although some may say you should stick with the A,theme.

Phrowzunn · 01/04/2021 16:27

I know @TatianaBis having two young girls and a Disney+ subscription... SO tacky! Should have just leaned into it and called them Merida and Moana.

babbaloushka · 01/04/2021 16:40

I know you said you weren't keen on Alex, but the issue of one having a more masculine name would be solved if you had Quinn and Alex(andra) as they're both unisex.

pigglepot · 01/04/2021 18:00

Sorry to throw a spanner in the works but I actually think Audrey is the name that might seem a bit odd in the UK. It's definitely not a popular name for a child- it's more of a name for the over 50s and hasn't come back round yet to be trendy again. I think in the US it's maybe a lot more common for younger people but that might be the name in the UK that raises eyebrows for a baby rather than Quinn. I love love love Quinn but I do see it as more of a boys name: but I'm sure I would get over that quickly if I met a girl called Quinn. I also don't think it really matters that two of your daughters will have A names and one doesn't. I don't know how often that will be picked up on. Me and my husband share the same initial for example and it's not something anyone ever mentions or considers! Sorry I don't want to be negative about any of your names- choosing a baby name is very stressful and whatever names you choose will end up being perfect for them.

Ismellphantoms · 01/04/2021 18:22

If I was called Quinn I'd definitely feel that I'd drawn the short straw. It's so masculine and especially unsuitable for a twin because of the rhyming. Audrey is due a comeback. Can't you think of another A name? Aurora is truly dreadful. Amelie, Anna, Augusta, Annie, Alexandra and Alice to name a few that are prettier. Please don't do what an American friend had done. Three girls, one has a pretty A name, but the others are Holland and London. Poor girls.
