I really like it but would go for Corin which is the name spelling

Lorne, Ronan, Kester, Fionn, Ciaran, Cormac, Aaron, Arran

partyatthepalace · 01/04/2021 10:16

Definitely a boys name - means spear - Corinna is the feminine.

Conn is another one.

Violetlavenders · 01/04/2021 10:17

Corinne is feminine

EssentialHummus · 01/04/2021 10:23

5moreminutes is Boden actually a name, outside of that Boden?

OP you’ve have some good suggestions. Cohen is a Jewish surname which roughly means “priest”. I’m normally very much your kid your rules but as a Jew I’d find someone using this name very ignorant. A bit like me naming my child Buddha.

CallItLoneliness · 01/04/2021 10:45

Cormoran, Caelan Connor, Armin

Rosebush2019 · 01/04/2021 11:03

Essentialhummus I had heard of cohen potentially being offensive due to its Jewish meaning, so had wondered the dutch name coen as an alternative spelling or would that still have connotations?
Callt I love Caelan but my friend has a boy with this name so unfort cant use!
Corin the fave so far....just now to convince dh.....😂

EssentialHummus · 01/04/2021 11:59

rose Coen wouldn’t have the same connotations for me, no. I’m a bit unsure of the pronunciation there - if it’s a long oo sound it sounds similar to a derogatory term - but that’s possibly my issue, idk.

florascotia2 · 01/04/2021 12:14

I'm not an expert, but I think that the Dutch name 'Coen' is pronounced rather like 'coon', and the 'C' at the beginning of the word is different from the English pronounciaton.

florascotia2 · 01/04/2021 12:16

I agree with essentialhummus - the 'oo' Dutch pronounciation would be offensive in English.

Corran is a car-ferry in the Highlands. Lovely scenery but .....

florascotia2 · 01/04/2021 12:19

Corin is definitely a boy's name, as others above have said. It appears in Shakespeare - Corin is a kindly shepherd. And there was the famous actor Corin Redgrave.

Gothichouse40 · 01/04/2021 12:20

Calum, Ruairdh , Malcolm Im assuming you are looking for Celtic type names.

Lotsachocolateplease · 01/04/2021 12:20

You seem to favour the hard c sound. Other suggestions
Caleb
Cole
Carter
Callum
Craig
Christian
Or for alternatives but with a c ch in the middle/end
Zachary
Frederick
Nicholas
Jacob

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 01/04/2021 16:04

Corin is great - really classy with a nice sound. Lachlan is okay (I'd guess you were Scots or Aussie though?). Cohen is too much for me as a given name. Callan is nice and gives the cool nn Cal (although it may get confused with Callum depending on how hard you emphasise the last syllable). You might also like the Hebrew Oren (means palm tree and is also spelt as Orin, or there is also the similar Irish Oran)?

florascotia2 · 01/04/2021 17:45

The Gaelic spelling is Ruaidhri
The Irish name is Odhran, Anglicised as Oran.

KirstenBlest · 02/04/2021 12:25

Corran (love this) - Corin or Coren better spellings
Coen/cohen/cohan - Jewish surname
Lachlan - ch problematic in many regions

KirstenBlest · 02/04/2021 12:25

Cohan looks wrong
