Baby girl names you don't hear often

Due a Baby Girl in June and really struggling with names I like, a lot of the names I did like such as Sophia, Mia and Orla have been taken by friends / family.

I do like Alba, Verity, Luna, Flora, Nova and Polly (my DH hates the last three!).

Any other suggestions?

@millymae

What about Eula - to my ear so.much nicer than Luna and Alba.
EULA - aka End User Licence Agreement. Please don't call your child this 😉

Tell your friend/mother/mil you've decided to go with Nemesis..... all your other suggestions will suddenly become much more appealing. Works a treat.

I have an Orla, she’s the only one we know and have moved areas twice since she was born 11 years ago.

I also have a Maeve, a Connie and a Francesca. There are a couple of Maeves in our area and 1 other Connie.

I adore Astrid and Margot, both vetoed by dp! Otillie was pipped by Connie.

Plenty of graces, violets, Maisie’s and Trixies round here at the moment although ‘old lady names’ are definitely popular (Evelyn, Elsie, even a Blythe!)

I know an Orla, a Mia, an Alba, two Lunas and a Nova.

I like a pp suggestion of Molly. A lot of your choices are quite short - what about Tess? I’ve always loved the name but it doesn’t go with our surname.

Flora is really pretty but my friend was given the nickname after being caught having sex at work, so it could be a risky one.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I’m no closer to narrowing it down but particularly like Eden, Reeva, Romy and Petra 😊

I love the name Verity, think it's beautiful and it has great meaning. It was popular amongst Quakers at one time, as was Felicity.

MarmaladeBumpkin · 09/04/2021 05:59

Absolutely love Sylvie and Morwenna, also Vivienne - and Genevieve which has lots of nickname potential. I think longer names are going out of fashion a bit - but can be very useful when you want the option of something quite distinguished when the child grows up - so a classic longer one with an interesting nickname could work well perhaps?

HarleyQuinn21 · 09/04/2021 06:01

I know a few babies called Luna and Alba.

I don't know how popular Alice is but I've only ever met one and I love the name.
