Middle name George but can't choose first name

Got a boy already called Charlie, due another in a few months.

Would love George as a middle name but struggling with a first name.

I don't like names that are too different and out there.

I do like Arthur but I struggle to imagine calling a baby Arthur if that makes sense, I immediately think of age 3+ lol. My husband suggested shortening it to Artie but it would annoy me if people didn't pronounce the 'T' which is very likely where we live.

Help?

MajesticWhine · 29/03/2021 10:49

If you love George why not George as the first name? My other suggestion is Archie.

trevthecat · 29/03/2021 10:50

We have an Alfie George

Prefer George to Arthur.

MaverickDanger · 29/03/2021 17:01

My midwife in December told me that she had seen so many Arthur’s last year - four in December alone.

Ellis, Frankie, Freddie or Harry go well with Charlie.

aboutthatlife · 29/03/2021 19:48

I would love to call him George, but my best friend had a baby 2 weeks ago and called him George.

Also Charlie has one grandads name as his middle (James) so we said the next one would have George as that's another grandad.

We know so many people who have had boys recently and have named them names we liked! Really struggling to find one different that we can agree on but I will mention all these ones to my partner and see if we can agree on any

Thank you

Arte, Arvy and Arely are also english names for boys,
about 100 names starting with art or or starting with ar and ending with y, have a look at them

Mammabearhudson · 31/03/2021 16:05

How about Elliott/Elliot George?

aboutthatlife · 31/03/2021 19:37

So I think we have narrowed it down to 3!

Archie
Louis
Ollie

If you pronounce Louis as lou-ee, I think Lewis George sounds better. However my favourite would be Oliver George and Ollie for short.
AppleKatie · 31/03/2021 19:57

Oliver (Ollie).

I think Louis, Archie and George are all lovely but for me having all royal children’s names would be a bit much.

Vanannabananna · 31/03/2021 19:58

I like Louis George

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 31/03/2021 20:26

Oliver George (nn Ollie) would be my favourite, followed by Louis George (because I agree with pp, I prefer the sound of Lewis). I find Archie a bit trendy, sorry.

HeadlessGummyBears · 31/03/2021 20:40

From your three options, I think either Louis or Oliver nn Ollie. But I think Oliver George/George Oliver sounds rather names. Wouldn’t pair Louis with George because of the Cambridge kids.

aboutthatlife · 31/03/2021 21:26

I definitely agree Archie has got quite popular now, but I do like it!

It wouldn't be pronounced Lewis I'm not a fan of that it would be Louie but I think I like the spelling of Louis.

Ollie/Oliver is my husbands least favourite out of the 3 but I think he is warming to it

We knew from very early on that my first son would be called Charlie we didn't even have a second option but it's so much harder this time!
