Isaac Zachary?

Thoughts on the name Isaac Zachary? Surname is two syllables beginning with a hard C if it helps. My husband and I both like the flow of the name but he's worried we would be calling our child Zac Zachary. Not adverse to the nickname Zac at all so could happen but I'm not convinced it's a problem. Want to keep our names a secret from family and friends so can't ask them what they think. Thanks!

Too much of a mouthful imo..

Cupcakegirl13 · 28/03/2021 21:21

I think they are very similar a bit like using Jake Jacob or John Jonathan !

Mayvis · 28/03/2021 21:22

I like them both separately but not together.

Joolsin · 28/03/2021 21:22

No, it's basically Zac Zac.

WonkyCactus · 28/03/2021 21:23

Isaac is a lovely name but it doesn't really go with Zachary in my opinion.

youmakemydreamscometrue · 28/03/2021 21:23

I wouldn't purely because the shortening for both is Zac.

Isaac and Zachary are both nice names in their own right

DuckonaBike · 28/03/2021 21:23

Can I just say those are two of my favourite names? (Didn’t use either of them as I have girls). Good choice Smile

I see what you mean about the repeated sound. I don’t think it’s terrible, but if it bothers you would you consider Isaiah instead of Isaac?

DragonPoop · 28/03/2021 21:25

No my first thought was Zac Zachary, it’s terrible! Both nice names individually but terrible together

Nanny2many · 28/03/2021 21:25

Unmakes me think of Hanson! They had three brothers 2 were called Isaac and Zach

PlainJane1000 · 28/03/2021 21:27

I agree with pp, although spelt differently the sounds are basically I-zac Zac-ary which feels a bit full on, but comes down to how much you love it and how much it bothers you given full names are rarely said. Agreeing on something that ticks every box is so hard!

Sunbird24 · 28/03/2021 21:29

If those are 2 names you love how about putting them the other way round? Zachary Isaac takes away the ‘zac-sac’ issue

gallileofigaro · 28/03/2021 21:29

One or the other but not both together.

Sunbird24 · 28/03/2021 21:29

Zac-zac, not zac-sac 🤦‍♀️

dottiedaisee · 28/03/2021 21:30

One or the other ..both nice but not together.

Cocopogo · 28/03/2021 21:30

Love Isaac, would find a better middle name

partyatthepalace · 28/03/2021 21:33

I don’t think it’s terrible, and you would never really use a nn with a middle name - if you were listing a middle name then you’d use the full first name.

However if it bothers you - Issac... Anthony, Alexi, Gregory, Jacobi, Montgomery, Timothy might all work

Ohdoleavemealone · 28/03/2021 21:36

I have an Isaac and no one ever calls him Zac but is still in primary school so that may change. Even so, I think isaac zachery is too much zzzz sounds.

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 28/03/2021 21:47

Both lovely names but too similar in combination for me.

DramaAlpaca · 28/03/2021 21:50

They don't flow at all.

FN23 · 28/03/2021 21:56

Wow this got alot of comments fast! Thanks guys, looks like I'm outnumbered here. I don't mind the repeated sound in the slightest and we struggle so much with boys names. Don't know what we're having so this might not even be an issue. Back to the drawing board I suppose hah...

They both shorten to Zac so Zac-Zac. It be like having a baby girl and calling her Bethany Elizabeth (Beth Beth)

Ilovemaisie · 28/03/2021 22:57

I quite like Zac Zac. It makes me think of Jack Jack from The Incredibles Grin

I was about to suggest this. Would this work for you OP?
FN23 · 29/03/2021 08:14

We're quite set on Isaac so although Zachary Isaac is a great suggestion it's not for us. Struggling because our daughter's middle name is quite unusual (Niobe) so feel like alot of the traditional boys middle names don't go with hers.

I think it's ok - no one uses middle names anyway! Isaac is nice 😊
